I think it’s because when Trump worded things, he said there should be a disinfectant used to combat the virus. The media/Twitter immediately jumped to conclusions that he meant using Tide Pods and Clorox injected into the body, because that was the word association they had with “disinfectant”. Trump could have worded it a bit better, but considering he was on the spot and trying to explain a medical procedure (without a medial background) it was bound to happen. The media is being far more exceptional about this by not bothering to gather the full context, but that’s to be expected.
For any "journalist" who has reported on this and hasn't just arrived from some third world shithole before being hired at some glorified blog, I say they are one of two things: Either incompetent, or lying. Incompetent if they didn't actually watch the fifty second clip to get the context, or lying. There is doubtfully very many English speakers who are unaware of the old saying
"Sunlight is the best disinfectant", so the gymnastics used to claim it meant bleach or whatever is blatantly dishonest and misleading. Almost like, I don't know, they aren't journalists at all.

If that were true, and I have my doubts, it's either a schizophrenic or a Democrat looking to do their part in the war against Blonard Blurmft.
In response to the whole bleach debacle, I find that once again, CS Lewis is very instructive in this regard.
The big problem I've seen with those afflicted with TDS is right here: they refuse to look beyond headlines or engage in critical thinking because they prefer their perceived enemies to be as evil as possible. I suspect that it gives them a sense of superiority, a feeling that because their opponents are bad, they are good. It's moral laziness at it's best. There's no need to work in charity, or actively help make the world a better place. I'm not a monster like Trump and his supporters. And their world grows blacker and blacker.
What worries me is that even after Trump is gone, the worldview that these people are developing now won't be. Ingrained by habit, their tendency to see the absolute worse in everyone and everything will probably stick around long after anything from the Trump campaign. Unless there's some sort of realignment, I can see Trump Derangement Syndrome literally evolving into good old fashioned derangement.
I think for a lot of these people, there is never going to be any coming back. They have lost the ability to analyse anything, and lack any emotional regulatory abilities to challenge their Ego boosting fantasies.
Look how many people, with sneering certainty, think they are somehow wider, better spoken, more intelligent and more fundamentally successful than a billionaire celebrity who has become the leader of the most powerful nation on the planet.
I just don't see a lot of minds being able to un-jump-off-that-cliff of self-aggrandizing delusion.
Excellent Lewis Quote, BTW!
The only thing keeping Biden alive right now is Trump tied up having to deal with Coronavirus. Once he can start to go on the offensive it's gonna be shock and awe.
Trump is gonna hammer him with this Larry King clip, a half dozen clips of him being creepy with young girls, dozens of clips of him being generally creepy and gaffe prone, clips of him being senile, clips of him raising his hand for free healthcare for illegals, various China clips, Hunter and Ukraine clips, Hunter and China clips, Hunter and his babymommas clips, Hunter and cocaine clips, Hunter and strippers clips, ending drilling and fracking clips, Beto being in charge of his gun control policy clips...
And don't get even me started if he makes Kamala or Pocahontas his running mate. Katy bar the door cause it's gonna be on.
Don't forget Biden's long history in Washington. How many things has he voted on that are now antithetical to the left zeitgeist? There would probably be a years worth of attack ads on that alone.
