Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

If he was like that more often, maybe less people would have an issue with his behavior. I would think he's a hard ass, but at least firm and respectful in his endeavor.
LOL come on. People have an issue with his behavior mainly because they're on the other political team and it's convenient to claim it's his behavior they hate. The same amount of people have an issue with him as had an issue with Obama. The difference is many of those people currently have TV shows. Back during Obama the people with TV shows mostly loved the guy, because he was on their team.

I don't really care if people "have an issue" with his behavior. TDS types wouldn't take him any more seriously if he was always calm, serious and firm. Neither would the press. He affords the press exactly as much respect as they deserve and I love it.

My point was since he's always a blowhard towards them, it would scare the living shit out of the press if he were to suddenly switch tone on just one occasion to make a brief, matter-of-fact statement about some DEFCON-1-style happening.

I'd be scared shitless if I was an Iranian military officer right now and begging my government not to order me to my death.

This makes me think back to that legendary first meeting Trump had with executives from the leading press outfits after he won the election but before he took office. To hear the press tell it, he ranted and raved at them, insulting them and calling them worthless, and establishing the tone of the relationship he intended to have with them throughout his presidency. I don't recall ever hearing him deny that claim, so I imagine it probably wasn't the most pleasant of exchanges even if the reports of his theatrics were exaggerated.

Since then, Trump has openly sparred with the press at every opportunity, and relishes shitting in their mouth every chance he gets. They continue to act stunned and shocked that he would dare address their royal selves as he does, but at this point I get the feeling they're pretty much used to it and they've come to understand a lot of it is theatrics and political bluster (fueled by the very real contempt he feels for them).

Imagine how fucking terrified they'll be on the day he speaks to them as calmly and firmly as he is in this tweet. No sparring, no insults, no shameless self-promotion or bravado, no patronizing tone. Just straight, calm, firm, direct and factual. They will shit their pants.

And I bet the reporting on that day, even from the most insane leftist rag networks (i.e. CNN), will be matter-of-fact and neutral, because I suspect the only time he would ever do it would be for a major "oh shit" moment the likes of which we've never seen in modern times. Like "the bombs drop in 5 minutes and I'm reinstating the draft" major.

I hope it never happens, but the fun of seeing it happen will help console me as my house burns down and my face melts from whatever happening provokes it.
That one recent image of that reporter putting his hand to his chest like a scandalized rich lady saying “gracious me!” was hilarious.

Trump runs his public image like a wrestling promotion. He's cutting promos left and right. Compare this to a press smackdown.

The difference is that Chinese projects are also staffed with Chinese labor, unlike European colonial powers that trained the native population. If an African state nationalized a mine they would have nobody to run it.
No, in their infinite wisdom they would attempt to do so themselves. Kind of like they governed Zimbabwe after the Rhodesian bush war. Did not work out very well for them. Rhodesia was a pretty booming place before the government shift. But no matter what they break, they will always then expect someone to come on and helpthem fix it, rather than doing it themseleves. Hell, the Rhodesians were by far winning the bush war, with incredibly less numbers, and the natives had to pull in ththe international community and big daddy Britain to force the Rhodies to fork over the entire government and country. Had that not happened, Rhodesia would still be a thing.

Not saying they will know how to do the jobs, but the mindset is going to be one of "I could do it just as well, if not better"... where in reality there is a lot more than delegating and sitting on your ass when it comes to running these large scale projects.

Chinese working population is equipped to deal with uprising and disputes, but a large enough mob can always effectively cause shutdowns/major inconviences. I would imagine the infrastructure is under heavy security, some sturdy barbed wire fences, probably some armed mercenary security if not chinese soldiers themselves. The real issue is that they dont have heavy equipment like tanks or planes, or even a huge stockpile of weapons, because of the risk of natives gaining access to this.

The thing about infrastructure in Africa, as we have seen time and time again, is that the native population is more than willing to burn and destroy everything if it means they get something out of it. There is a lack of long term thinking involved. They will tear up roads, break walls, spoil food and water sources, all for the sake of meeting an immediate goal, not thinking about how they will need this shit later down the road. They will destroy a structure if only to get what is inside. Guns, materials, etc - and then they will come back in a year and the structure still won't be fixed.

We already tried that, his name was George W Bush and they hated him with a passion too.

Same thing with Haiti, the revolution caused it to go from being one of the richest colonies at the time to one of the most corrupt and poor nations in the world. Didn't help that they massacred the remaining French population as well.

Trump's grown on me but I'd like it if he talked clearly at his press conferences. Whenever he's asked a question, his response is always a bunch of vague statements.

For example, if a reporter asked him about the progress on the border wall, he'll say: "We're doing a tremendous job. You know, this administration has done more to strengthen the border than any other administration in the history of this country. It's a fantastic, beautiful wall. There's a lot to be done, and we are getting it done."

I get that he has his manner of speaking, but it would be better to respond by saying: "We've reinforced X amount of fencing and add X miles to our big, beautiful wall. We are about halfway to our goal but what we have done so far has made our nation safer than ever before." A lot of the confusion that he generates would be resolved if he provided concrete information in his speech.

I'm with you the liberals have branded themselves the party of science and through years of the Daily show, real time, etc they've had it reinforced that not only are they the party of science but they are the party of the inteligent. Think of the times they'll quote studies saying more liberals go to college, it's funny because those studies show republicans have higher IQ's on average, It's why they always go back to the republicans are dumb rednecks it's what they've been taught.
the way liberals act so intellectually snobbish makes me understand and accept anti-intellectualism.
no one cares if you're smart as long as you're a nerdass.

If people were really empathetic they'd realize that even if they don't agree with the methods, the protestors are anxious about what they're going to do to make ends meet and "well those stupid poors just need to wait for their betters to eat the rich!" is both patronizing and unrealistic.

The narrative is almost certainly going to recalibrate to Trump FORCING Dem governors into long draconian lockdowns that destroyed the economy because his initial response to the pandemic was just so bad that they had no other choice.
I love how everyone who claims to love science and posts about how anti-vaxers will destroy the world suddenly call herd immunity a wackjob conspiracy when it comes to how this virus response could have been better handled.

Hell, Sweden took some light measures with restricting public gatherings to fifty people and advising the sick and immuno-comprimised to stay at home, and they've almost completely developed herd immunity to COVID-19. This clown world has gotten so bad, I'm praising SWEDEN for their policy decisions!

Look at Al's face in that last fucking frame. That unironically is the face of realization the Dems are fucked come November.
Well they're fucked for two reasons:
  1. They have a washed up old man with dementia and former Vice President of a mediocre presidency who's the nominee and brings nothing new to the table and has sexual assault allegations. Though the media insists he's the best alternative because of COVID-19.
  2. They have been catering to manchildren millennials and Gen-Zers with useless shit like free college and health care when they sit on their asses under their parents' basements.

This is really saddening to see. A guy that succeeds in life, gets to a powerful position, and makes an endorsement choice he believes is in the best interest of his nation is harassed out of office. Not a law, not a policy, not corruption. A mere endorsement. If the Trump team is smart they will make Jones into a martyr. Really, what have the Democrats gained here?

For once we can unironically say SWEDEN, YES!

Wow that blows. I probably disagree with the dude on a lot but he didn't deserve that. He was just trying to do right by his constituents.

Hope he gets a job in the administration assuming he is qualified for an available position.

When he made his first big televised speech about the Chinese coronavirus he was the calmest and least bombastic I'd ever heard him talk. And it scared the hell out of me.

no one cares if you're smart as long as you're a nerdass.

But they aren't smart their just educated. They like to pretend they are intelligent but they only outnumber republicans in every non stem field excluding science. Even in the scientific fields they tend to be outnumbered by republicans but manage to keep them quiet by threatening funding or their credentials.

They aren't the nerd that actually knows everything their the nerd that read dune and then suddenly believes they understand human nature.
