Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

For as much as my parents like to pretend they're bleeding hearts, they sure do have zero empathy for people who are protesting because they're desperate to get back to work so they don't starve/get the lights, heat and water turned off/lose their businesses they've poured decades into.

You'd think they'd be more sympathetic since they're so kind and enlightened, but they're just brushing the protesters off saying that "they're a bunch of inbred hicks" and accusing me of being a diehard Trump supporter because I tried to explain reasons why people are protesting. Fuckin' TDS, man. I hate what it's done to the people I love and respect.

I believe that is standard for "bleeding hearts." The second you scratch the surface you find a hard core elitist underneath. That the "peasants" need to realize what their place in the world is.

Tell them off. Tell them it doesn't matter what politics you personally may have, these "inbred hicks" have to work so they can live, and they would understand that if they were so much as a third as kind and empathetic as they claim to be.

The crazy thing is that they are genuinely super sweet and kind outside of politics- for fuck's sake, they offered to give my friend money when her stimulus check failed to arrive even though we haven't gotten ours either- but the second politics gets brought up they just turn into assholes! It makes me really sad, and I know it's 100% the media's fault for sowing the seeds of and then encouraging this sort of black and white thinking.

I find that really disturbing. A normal person would at least like to know their opposition's intentions, not perceive them as faceless scum.

I hate that sitting in your home doing fuck all has become the new virtue signal of the month.

I'm sorry we're not all privileged enough to sit in our parent's basement for months/years on end.
Some people have these weird things called jobs and businesses that won't survive these foolhardy attempts to keep the world economy on pause till the heat death of the universe.
We can't all be college students and NEETs.
Fortunately starting on May 1st shit is gonna start cascading and no amount of desperate attempts to clamp down by the petty authoritarians of the world will stop people from doing so.

You've got your timing a bit off. The 22nd Amendment was proposed in 1947, two years after the court-packing crippled commie puppet died, and finally ratified in 1951. There's debate as to whether the 12th and 22nd Amendments combined would prevent a two-term president from running as VP, but I think most campaigns wouldn't even bother trying so as not to have a potential constitutional crisis.

The language of the law was written with FDR in mind, and they didn't bother changing it because of how long it took to push through. So if the US does go full Banana/Vodka republic, there's plenty of avenues for a strongman to pull Putin-like powerswap games.
"Hey how was I to know that both the President and Vice President would resign the day after innaugeration?"

But truly, you've got the crux with the bolded part. Again, pretending a political party is shithout rat crazy enough to run a 2-termer as a Veep...look at what the shreiking Dems have done to Trump over the past 3 years, and now imagine how much worse it'd be if they'd actually had a leg to stand on.

I feel you. My group of friends is banned from talking about politics since it always ends in a screaming match. If you aren't in 100% agreement (which I'm not since I doubt that we have laid the groundwork for the systems liberals want) then you are clearly some degenerate backwards fuck.

Nah, it is the media's fault and the conditioning society has put into people that there is only one way forward and it must be achieved ruthlessly.

Then people wonder why there isn't trust in society.

Nope. It's not the media. It goes all the way back to Marx, and maybe the Old Testament. One always has to be the victim to justify any atrocities.

And being charitable in that situation wasn't really charitable.. Charitable would be having an open heart for the suffering of those people they disagree with, not the ugly, sneering contempt of the power of charity that they demonstrate. I could be wrong of course, but giving, in and of itself, is neither kind hearted nor charitable. It's a flexing and demonstration you have power over someone. Orwell talks about it in Down and Out in Paris and London.

I spent 50 years as what would be called a radical leftist. I had a grandfather who was semi-famous in international socialism. If I named him, there would be several people on this site who would recognize his name, but for all the fuzzy wuzzy feelings, the charitable instinct of a leftist bleeding heart is one of power.

True love is not enabling or dignifying weakness, but encouraging someone in a shit situation to realize their own power. It's the male rather than the female expectation of autonomy. It's the shut the fuck up and get a job rather than ohhhh poor baby, stay at home! You don't kick someone down, but ultimately, they have to learn how to stand on their own, otherwise they are an intellectual toddlers, and it's kind of an ugly kind of way to consider your fellow man so pathetic and useless and weak. I'm an atheist, but certainly Chistians and Buddhists would agree on that, generally speaking.

The Marxian paradigm tries to replace that with a fantastical ideology of the state, and fails every time.

And back to Orwell, he had utter hatred for charitable people. He considered them dehumanizing and disempowering like nothing else in this world.

And that's the basis of Marxist cosmology: the proletariat/bourgeoisie dichotomy. You are one of us or you are the enemy. Everything comes from Hegel and the dialectic.

I haven't been paying attention to the news as of late. But are there any reasons for the protest? To my understanding, it's huge overreach on the governors' part.
Certain governors have come out acting like petty tyrants and Karens suddenly given executive power. People with no plan except "everyone stay under house arrest until there are NO CASES of COVID". As you can imagine, people with memory and things to lose recall that the point of the lockdown was to flatten the curve and not to flatten the economy for a certain party's Han masters.

Soon they will move the goalposts to "everyone stay under house arrest until there there is a vaccine and everyone has taken it"

To the media shilling for Biden, what has he been doing during this pandemic compared to Trump? I’ve seen nothing from him and yet I’m being told he’s now in advantage to beat Trump in early polls.

EDIT: Regan’s son said it doesn’t matter if Biden has sexual assault allegations because Orange Man bad

Listen and Believe unless they have a (D) is what Biden's showing in spades.

Except the illegals, use them as work and voting chattle.

There's a theory that all politics boil down to survival strategy: People in the Cities are (generally,) resource seekers that want cheap money and more sexual/social opportunities, and people in the rural areas prefer scarcity-enforced hierarchies. To see someone opposed to your politics is to see someone standing in the way of your survival strategy. This sets off the amygdala, the threat-sensing part of the brain, and, if you're a person whose amygdala has atrophied because of a lack of environmental threat, it can trigger a meltdown. This is why you usually see wealthy Karens and urban bugpeople screaming their heads off if their expectations are violated, or see them cutting off lifelong family members because they dared to suggest that the Orange Man might not be all bad.

Earlier today, a friend of mine shared some horrible news (an elderly family member of hers tested positive for COVID-19). I really feel for her about that. It sucks. As someone who is constantly worried about their high-risk loved ones, I understand how horrifying that news must be.

That said, she completely politicized her relative's situation: "THANKS, TRUMP VOTERS, FOR PROTESTING THIS WEEKEND. SORRY YOU CAN'T GO TO THE MOVIE THEATER YET YOU SELFISH AND SOULLESS ASSHOLES!"

Firstly, if protesters had been the cause of her relative catching the virus, then the relative would have been tested roughly 10 days from now. Once you catch this thing, you don't immediately experience the symptoms a day or two later. So, congrats to her: her biases are preventing her from knowing basic facts about the virus itself.

Secondly, of course this friend is an "essential worker." She literally mentions it all of the time at this point; she's so proud. She gets to work at home, too (because of course she does). With her screeching about people protesting, she's completely disregarding the people who's lives are being absolutely destroyed. The people protesting want to make an income again before they starve to death or become fucking homeless. But sure, write those people off as brats who are just mad that they weren't able to see the Mulan remake in theaters!

The ones who are saying how "easy" it is to stay home are the ones with the most charmed lives. They are being incredibly oblivious and elitist about other people's LEGITIMATE problems. These shutdowns have the serious potential to make a worse impact on our country than COVID-19 itself if they continue for much longer.

Again, I feel bad for this friend, and I totally get that she's emotional right now (justifiably so). Last thing I would prioritize after hearing that news, though, would be to start posting political crap on Facebook. TDS runs deep, y'all.
