Actually, looking into it further, it seems he may have predicted it would go lower. The original idea he presented was to fill the reserves to the max capacity by buying 77 million barrels, but he cut the purchase down to 30 million barrels.

If the purpose of buying the oil was to help support domestic oil production, buying at the higher price actually accomplishes that better. In a vacuum, you're always going to want the government to buy at the lowest possible price. This is not a vacuum, though, is it? There are other factors involved. I'm not surprised Jim Acosta didn't pick up on it, there is no single dumber person in journalism.

Yeah, but I still can't help but asking that question myself. The only difference being I'm not interested in maligning her or thinking that she should be held accountable for anything considering but she's consistently kept a very low profile from the moment she and husband entered the White House.

Melania has been doing things (she was with Barr for a briefing talking about support for opioid addiction victims and with that school lunch programs that are there while coronavirus makes it hard for parents to feed their kids in metropolitan areas) but they never report on it because they just wanna talk about orangemanbad sorta like how they mucked up the Corona-Chan news with 24/7 impeachment.

Well since we're on this topic, the only countries that should be very worried about this are the oil dependent economies.
Now I think a country such as the United States can take a hit because we've diversified our economy over the decades where oil is not our only means to gain revenue. But then there is countries such as Canada, Saudi Arabia, Russia, and Venezuela that still heavily depend on oil exports. So if the price for oil keeps crashing then these oil dependent countries are going to be royally screwed later on.
