Wisconsin Supreme Court blocks governor's effort to delay primary

The Wisconsin Supreme Court on Monday ruled that Gov. Tony Evers (D) cannot delay the state’s presidential primary scheduled for Tuesday, despite fears about the coronavirus pandemic.

The 4-2 court ruling overturned Evers’s emergency order issued earlier Monday calling for the primary to be postponed, after Wisconsin Republicans filed a lawsuit challenging it.

At least two local government leaders as of Monday afternoon have ordered a cancelation of in-person voting, according to the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel.

Of course this is an awful idea and will lead to the death and illness of many Americans.

Anything to murder democrats.

Moderate PL but there's more on the ballot than just the presidential primary, the primary isn't really discussed here, more that there's a hotly contested supreme court seat and a house seat left vacant by Sean Duffy's unexpected retirement. I'm voting tomorrow and DGAF. I'm rural so there's not much 'rona round me and on a normal election day my polling station is lucky to get 150 people total. I'll wear a mask and gloves but I'm going.

Be safe, man.

I don't know what the point of emphasizing that Wisconsin Republicans challenged the order is.

It's SOP that in any court proceeding, the plaintiff/defendant or prosecution/defendant are clearly laid out for the sake of transparency. It's not some "gotta smear the Reps" thing, for once.

You know, I'm not really sure what the problem is here.

It just means that the Dems need to stock more warehouses or what have you full of filled ballots, and my impression is that there's a lot of free space right now.

The deceased are such a reliable Democratic voting bloc, not even a pandemic can keep them away from the ballot box.

I'm pretty sure he's talking about the retard's OP where he used different sized font.

Yea that's just Tuscan's shtick at this point, everyone should expect it...that said, if people want to get pissy and condemn the WI GOP's challenge to this as some kind of political chicanery then they should apply that same approach to Governor Evers. He waited until the absolute last moment to do this, which he does not have authority to do under the State's constitution (that rests with the legislature) in the hopes of just getting away with it, and he didn't do it to "save lives" if that were the case he would have done it two weeks ago. This was all about that supreme court seat, he realized that Democrats, much like on days with poor weather, likely won't turn out in the middle of a pandemic. He doesn't want Kelly to retain that seat.

Back to Tuscan being a shitty OP, in addition to her interesting fonts she also selectively copied and pasted from the article leaving out important parts like this:

Evers had previously said he did not have the power to change the election.

and this

Neither candidate [Sanders or Biden] has been advertising or visiting the state. The primary race has effectively ground to a halt as Biden is marooned at home and Sanders works from Washington.

This is really a state issue about state politics, not a larger national one.

What if Milwaukee doesn’t vote will Kelly win the seat?

That's likely. Milwaukee and Madison skew the state left. Always have. The rest of the state is pretty conservative.

The other article the Hill article links to is informative. Milwaukee usually has ~180 polling stations but will only run between six and twelve tomorrow.
