I don't meet too much tumblrites often, but I have a personal story about tumblr fucking up girls in my life, or, if you want to twist it out, them letting tumblr fuck their brains and ruin every ounce of respect I had for them, because I can't blame the website if the girls were fucking twats in the first place.

In 2012, my ex-gf was into MLP, nothing too annoying, and while I didn't call myself a brony, I thought the series was okay, pretty harmless and with some good messages despite the shitty fanbase (I'm a Pretty Cure fan, so it would be kind of hypocritical from my part to harp on the very nature of liking a show for kids)

In the SJW side, a very nice girl I used to be very good friends with, made contact with tumblr a year or so after I met her and suprise, suprise, she turned into an annoying feminist SJW nut that thinks everything you do has a misogynistic nature, blames the patriarchy for everything, and so on, I barely talk to her now.

New member here, I go on Tumblr to present myself as basically "everything the Tumblrinas / Tumblristas fear / hate in people turned up to eleven." So essentially, an uber-MURRICAN rich twenty something. It occasionally got me some lolcows, but it seems my performance was too over the top to really grab any of the more "famous" ones' attentions.

So I've mentioned a few times that I was an admin of TwilightSucks, an old forum about sperging over Twilight being shit. Being such a perfect encapsulation of the mid-late 2000's (and evidently having its tendrils everywhere it seems), it doesn't surprise me that one of the splinter sites (and let me tell you there were a lot of them) is now a SJW circlejerk.

One of them was made because a lot of people got tired of then-head admin being an obnoxious neo-conservative ass. I signed up for an account there, since a lot of decent posters moved there, but I can't say I interact with them anymore. Those decent posters have long since abandoned the site, leaving a grand total of five- maybe seven- users.

Good god, let me tell you, they are drink kool-aid like no tomorrow. I frequently head there to get a few laughs, because good god, they are spergs of the highest caliber.

I'd link to the forum directly, but they've long since locked it off over paranoia of said admin 'coming to start shit' (no I'm not kidding. keep in mind said admin didn't really give a shit about much of anything), and the forums' admins have also long since abandoned the shit hole.

CH Sommers is a somewhat controversial figure. She's a second-wave feminist who has done quite a bit for the cause- she's one of the 'big names' in that wave. She's most famous nowadays for her Factual Feminism series of videos, which debunks common misconceptions, as well as becoming embroiled in the Gamergate controversy.


Naturally, the hate her guts.

Slight tangent, am I the only one who really wants to punch Christine Hoff Sommers in her smug face? I'm not a violent man, but this woman is such an irredeemable liar, charlatan and hypocrite that I keep hearing the little shoulder devil muttering, "Just one punch, right between the eyes. That's all I ask." She's getting a lot more press now since Richard Dawkins now endorses her and thinks she's just brilliant.

Hail David Gaider, the one true savior of dark fantasy.

The blind worship of RPG elements and "hardcore" gameplay is grating on me. Old school gamers especially RPG fans are some of the most self-absorbed, elitist, little shits in the geeksphere. RPG elements aren't even all that great, most of them are a quagmire of crap. Nothing is more exciting than inventory management, user unfriendly interfaces and mechanics and pointless/cheap skill checks needed to move on in the game.

"Waaaa, I can't beat this game that doesn't hold my hand, waaaa! I can't sit down and think for a minute, I must be able to hack the enemies with a button press!"

Edit: Also The Witcher sucks and Dragon Age will forever be superior. At least DA protagonists are customizable and not stuck as a broody albino asshole.

I'm going to sperg out a bit here and explain why this fucker is an idiot.

One, Dragon Age is a poorly constructed setting. The whole thing is essentially Forgotten Realms with bits of A Song of Ice and Fire poorly attached. It also tends to double over on itself with retcons and the writers treat the lore like shit. For all intents and purposes, it's David Gaider's Sonichu.


Two, the concept of create-a-PC is ultimately a leisure. It's a nice thing to have, but in a genre that is so heavily driven by story telling and immersion as RPGs, I'm not going to bemoan a lack of it so long as the setting is immersive and the story is well executed.


Three, Geralt isn't a fucking albino. While his design is seemingly influenced by Moorcock's Elric of Melnibone- who actually is albino- Geralt isn't. His hair and complexion were changed by the potions used in the process of becoming a Witcher- even then, it was a very rare mutation.


This person would know this if they read the books or played the goddamn games.

Say what you want about Dark Souls being brutal and hardcore it has nothing on Frogger for the PS1 when it comes to difficulty. Right at the start the game is against you, speeding cars ready to turn you into frog paste, hungry alligators, killer beavers, snakes, and don't even get me starting on those damn turtles even the water hates you and it all gets worse from there. Frogger is the classic example of "everything trying to kill you" and you can't do anything about it, at least in Dark Souls you can defend yourself.


oh and Frogger is actually fun, approachable and does a good job explaining it's own mechanics.

They didn't notice that the game actually does explain its controls. Literally, the first area of the game is plastered with messages explaining button placement before it shows you how to use them. Hell, it even tells you to do a plunging attack on the Asylum Demon, which widdles the damn thing's health down to near-nothing.


It's also not as unapproachable as they say- you just need to be willing to think tactically. It, by most accounts, is a solid title with little in the way of glaring flaws.

The fact that Dragon Age: Inquisition pisses off gamerbros for having the audacity to be an inclusive, realistic, dark fantasy without rampant sexism, racism, trans/homophobia, and gratuitous use of sexual assault as drama, pleases me. Go ahead, cry about Bioware and EA pandering to your boogeyman the "ess-jay-warriors" while the rest of the industry panders to your entitled ass.

These people so pathetic, at times I have hard time believing they exist and they're everywhere.

This is where this sperg goes full retard. Dragon Age is not even remotely a realistic setting. It fails to emulate the grim, conservative nature of medieval times, immediately disqualifying it from that. There's a reason I said it was Realms with bits of ASoIaF sown on.


It's also absolutely toothless- it's 'dark fantasy' in the same way as Disney's Cinderella is an adaptation of the original story.


There is no real grim, uneasy mood. There's no melding of horror and fantasy. The heroes are rarely, as far as I remember, assholes. The closest thing there is to any of that is Tevinter. And that's basically the Empire of Melnibone, except minus the shit that actually made Melnibone such an eerie, creepy place since their audience doesn't want dark fantasy.

Spoiler: On Thor

This one is going to be a bit shorter than the others, probably. It deals with the controversial choice with the new Thor, a mysterious woman who pulled Mjolnir after Thor Odinsson was deemed unworthy.


There's a bit of a problem with her taking the name 'Thor', however. Thor is not an identity like Captain America or Spider-Man. Thor is the name of the person. That's why previous holders of the hammer- most notably Beta Ray Bill, the non-Asgardian to hold it (and canonically had a purer heart than Superman according to JLA/Avengers)- were given the powers of Thor and the title of god of thunder.

I on the other hand welcome our new thunder goddess. I always wanted a universe where Thor is a women. Fuck the haters.

Well there always is Earth X, where Thor was turned into a woman by Odin as a lesson in humility. Why they didn't just do that again, since it would have stronger basis in canon (note that Earth X used to be the canon future of Marvel's main universe), I'm not sure.

So Marvel has just announced that Thor is to be female in their comics now.


Well, they have several different universes. There's a version of Nick Fury that is black in one and white in another. There's a black Spiderman. There's a gay Green Lantern. From what I understand, there's a "Lady Loki." Having a female Thor isn't that big of a deal.



Yet everyone seems to be absolutely SHITTING RAGE that Thor is female now. Different races? Fine. Different sexualities? Honkey-Dorey. But a WOMAN?!!? WHAT KIND OF ABOMINATION TRAVESTY IS THIS!!!!!!

The funny thing about Lady Loki is that it was the result of Loki hijacking the body of Sif's reincarnation post-Ragnarok. It was never hyped the way Thor was. It also has the basis of Loki being a shapeshifter in the Norse myth (even if the similarities between Norse mythology and Marvel's Asgard is lip-service at best).

Sam Wilson is taking over as Captian America and Thor didn't suddenly become a woman over night, the lady Thor is a different character who's proven to be worthy of Mjolnir. I didn't see these nerd boys complain when Nightwing became the new Batman and Bucky taking up the mantle as Captain America. White male sidekicks succeeding their white male heroes. Hmm hmmm.

The thing with Sam Wilson as Cap is more that it shows a worrying trend of minority characters only being brought to prominence as inheriting the role of a white hero. He's not coming up as The Falcon (his own identity), he's coming up as Captain America. While there was legitimate racism behind some of that bitching, most of the stuff I saw was worry over that this trend- which actually is kind of worrying. It makes the character feel like nothing but a token attempt at 'diversity'.


And when you're dealing with a Sam Wilson? A character with DECADES of continuity behind him as his own superhero? I can see why there was upset.


Thora was more driven to piss off fanboys for sweet, sweet tumblrbux and rage money. She's incited debate over whether or not she's even worthy of Mjolnir, since the character apparently comes off as very far from being 'pure of heart'. Can't confirm since I haven't read the issues yet.


Either way, championing her is kind of dumb, since she'll be gone by the time Thor: Ragnarok is getting hyped. If that.

There's actually not much upset now - a lot of people miss Steve Rodgers, but the Captain Falcon storylines have been solid. The fact that he's the logical successor to Cap also means it makes sense continuity wise. Hopefully this will lead into Falcon getting his own series when Steve inevitably returns.

There's an omnibus series- Last Emperor of Melnibone- that collects most of it in publishing order over five volumes. Tends to have other little goodies like a few other of Moorcock's Eternal Champion stories (mainly bits from the Cornelius Quartet).

Yeah, they're actually not that bad of books either- certainly worth a look. There is an undeniable Elric influence, and I think Sapkowski himself has come to admit it (since he managed to read the novels whenever he was out of the USSR), but it's mostly at surface level.

I had a friend that became one. He was called Tomás, and he was a pretty lonely guy, so a few of my friends and I decided to take him under our wings, and we were those guys that were the weird cool kids that sometimes went playing sports but liked anime and video games. So, Thomas liked some anime and some videogames, but he liked Dr. Who and Homestuck as well. Needless to say, he quickly dived into tumblr. He began to view the use of whore and faggot as being the worst things ever, he began to become very weird and lonely (His ex girlfriend said he was becoming very reserved and just awkward to be around.). By the end of last school year, he claimed he had Gender Identity Disorder, which a counselor diagnosed him with (Not very SJW-y), and he continued to go down hill, he claimed he had numerous mental illnesses, and I'm pretty sure he became an otherkin. By the end of last semester, he had left school and was being homeschooled (Either because of his psychological problems or gender reassignment.). But he hasn't responded to any IMs I've sent him.
