What upsets me about people pushing back against HB1057 is that I keep seeing troons compare it to birth control. As if we should just let teenage girls suffer through unwanted/unplanned pregnancy because having a kid too early is exactly the same as aiden getting his tits chopped off at will.

This entire attitude is just disturbing. What makes it more disturbing is just how low the threshold is for being a terf. Not even joking, before I gave up on reddit I made the mistake of trying to have a rational discussion where my point was you live how you want but you can't expect others to participate in what amounts to an opinion, and it's ridiculous to disown your family over this. The backlash and anger I received was incredible. Some of these people are unhinged and they as a group should take it seriously. Let's hope the lgb gets fed up and kicks them out soon.

I think they react so strong to the idea of "TERFs" (which as I see it now encompasses anyone who says anything even trending towards negative about trans people) because skepticism and doubt is the default, logical, sane position. It's absolutely correct and fine for women to be freaked out by troons in their bathrooms. It's absolutely logical to look at the way these people choose to present themselves online every hour of every day and do a thunk. It is completely sane to be freaked out by freaks, especially those with sexual perversions, and all of the loudest trans representatives at every single level speak constantly and unrelentingly about sex. This reminds me back then when I was younger and more naive and just starting to learn about trannies. People would always say "Oh, don't let transphobes/TERFS influence your opinion on trans people!" I kept that thought in mind and tried to be open and accepting towards them.... and then it ended up being the trans community itself and all the disgusting perverts in it that influenced my negative opinion towards it.

I said it before and I'll say it again, either fucking gatekeep your community or be prepared for its reputation to gradually erode and for society to dislike it more and more.

I've seen adult women say they wish they hadn't been on birth control as teenagers...because taking synthetic hormones while still going through puberty can have negative consequences.

I have seen a lot of FTMs express that their periods are very painful, perhaps from PCOS, which has been shown to be much more common in lesbians.
