Trump Derangement Syndrome - Orange man bad. Read the OP! (ᴛʜɪs ᴛʜʀᴇᴀᴅ ɪs ʟɪᴋᴇ ᴋɪᴡɪ ғᴀʀᴍs ʀᴇᴠɪᴇᴡs ɴᴏᴡ) 🗿🗿🗿🗿

It's almost like the most turbulent time of the United States extent history was more complicated than "one side good, one side bad". Your post is a good example. I'd also add that both Republicans and Democrats were responsible for the continuing treatment of African people. Anyone who thinks either party was better than the other needs to tell the rest of us what a cranial rectal inversion is like.

It's almost like every such turbulent time was more complicated, involved half-measures and slow change, and people who supported parts of "the good side" without getting on board with the whole thing. Including the 1960s-70s era I was ranting about yesterday; Nixon supported desegregation, started federal affirmative action, defended civil rights legislation in courts, and ran against literal segregationist George Wallace... but he didn't like school busing, so now he's THE EVIL RAAAAACIST.

By the way, while I was looking up sources for that rant, I went back and read the reasons why those Dixiecrats said they switched to being Republicans. Turns out none of them said it was because Republicans supported segregation or white people; instead, they all blamed the Democratic party of becoming too liberal. Which was true, because the 60's wasn't just about civil rights; it was also about sexual liberation, the Great Society welfare state, massively expanding government power, anti-Communism, the Vietnam War, and so much more.

Even Strom Thurmond, ardent segregationist who previously broke with his party back in 1948 before switching to the GOP in 1964, didn't mention going to the GOP because they aligned with his views on race. He was a decorated major general in the Army who had been slamming the Democrats over Vietnam and the Bay of Pigs for years. In the televised speech he gave explaining his decision, he claimed that the Democratic Party had "repudiated the Constitution of the United States; it is leading the evolution of our nation to a socialistic dictatorship.”

There is a ton to criticize about Strom, but it's kinda hard to say he was wrong about that.

We used to have thoughtful debates and deep analysis to determine whether someone was "good" or "bad" in sum. It involved looking at everything they did, and the context of their times, and piecing together a nuanced overview of the impact they had on the world.

But now that the left has gone into an insane purity spiral, everyone who ever did or said one thing they don't currently like is racist and evil forever. Unless they are currently involved in giving the left more power, in which case they get a pass.

And guess what happens when you have a turbulent time in a society that doesn't move slowly, with half measures and incremental change? That chapter in the history books is titled "The End of X". Because healthy societies that survive do it with slow change, not with the modern "overturn everything now or else you're a bigot" manic pace.

Sorry for the 🕰 replies, but this thread is starting to pick up runaway train speed as 2020 gets closer to Nov......

On the splitting California issue

Gotta stop ya right there, chief.

It won't work because the cities via the state government have all the rural areas at gunpoint to provide them with their water, and any attempt to split the state, no matter how popular or legal by-the-letter would be instantly stayed by "emergency" conditions that cutting off the tap would kill millions in Los Angeles through thirst, and until such time that they can develop enough desalinization capacity to water themselves, the state has to hold together by Executive Order.

Naturally, they'll get to building those plants right after they finish that 50-year-and-not-one-mile-of-track-laid high speed rail network.

That's the biggest obsticle to any attempt to cleave the state of California, the cities are so parasitically entwined with the rural red areas that they can howl about how they can't have their tendrils ripped out, that would HURT, they need time to disengage (i.e. - well move a milliliter a year until everyone forgets we promised and then just pull right back in saying "we tried, but it just didn't work" )

I read it as the media is a complicit actor in the Dem self-delusion, basically the goblin on their shoulder telling them its not them who's crazy, its the voters who are crazy!

That's it exactly, the left don't turn to the media for truthful reporting, they know they're scumbags, but, they're scumbags who can peddle them just enough optimism that they can keeping voting Democrat with a clear conscious and keep the cognitive dissonance at bay.

The media isn't their source of fact, it's their logical escape hatch - CNN says orangemanbad, and they can't possibly be WRONG..... ALL THE TIME...even if 99% of it is a lie, at least ONE thing they said about him MUST be true..... therefore I'm in the clear to not question my biases and keep voting straight ticket, even as evidence the left has lost their minds keeps piling up.

But it was a question of who should be President, and here, too, the answer was clear. You want that son of a bitch LBJ in the White House.

Also, a guy who believed a bit too hard in the idea that God is on your side, exclusively, shouldn't have the ability to pull the nuclear trigger. Whether or not Godlwater was that kind of guy, the media certainly made it seem like he was...... google the Daisy Girl ad..... it was a masterstroke of campaigning.

Carter was a gentleman and a scholar, I'd love to have him as a neighbor, a professor, a colleague, pretty much everywhere and anywhere in my life EXCEPT in the Oval Office because he didn't have the heart to be an SOB. And being President means sometimes, you have to put on your SOB pants and tell someone "I'm the President of the United States, you bitch-ass punk, now, either you stop your shit right now or I'll have the 2nd Armored on your lawn in the morning and leveling the property by noon! And your pansy wind-up Soviet surplus ain't got SHIT on that!"

Trump may be a louse, but, he's MY louse and I have no fears that he's got some kind of hidden insanity in him, so his bluster is nothing to panic over unless you're still living in 1959 from a moral standpoint and the word "Damn" makes you faint just like seeing a woman with hair below the shoulders .

He actually is avoiding military engagements. He managed to get Rocket Man to negotiate and did more to resolve the unfinished war than many predecessors have. He also managed to take a rebound in the economic cycle and made it a boom, which also dropped black unemployment to its lowest point in history.

At least those are policies which should be seen as good and nonpartisan.

Feel like it's worth pointing out that the initial heated tensions with Kimmy calmed down after the US had forces pretty much set to invade. Talked to a guy a while back who was in the armed forces and mentioned how he was set in a boat for hours near the coast of North Korea with live ammunition, as forces were poised to wreck Kim's shit if he didn't become open to negotiating.

I assume Kimmy would probably have noticed some of this which may have factored into his becoming more amiable.

All I see is someone begging for attention. But enough about that. Right now, the Senate is trying so hard to bypass so many laws, just so that Trump can be voted out of office. But I believe that one major reason why the Left is trying so hard to get Trump out of office is due to Ruth Ginsburg. With the way her health is going, there's no way that she'll live pass 2 more years. Which is why if Trump gets voted out of office and a Democrat gets voted in, they can replace Ginsburg with another socialist left elitist. But if she DIES before Trump gets out of office, he'll appoint another Supreme Justice, and the Democrats won't like that at all.
They have no chance in hell actually removing him from office so long as the GOP controls the Senate. It's literally a no-sell attempt. All the impeachment was, was a dog and pony show. Smoke and mirrors to make their base, the more extreme side mind, believe things are happening to "stop the evil Orange Man" but in reality, their efforts were pathetic and now ready to turn around and punch them in the face. If a trial happens, Biden is going to be reamed over the Ukraine issue and all sorts of shit may be shone light that previously wasn't.
We have no idea what Trump has built up in his personal political warchest but he's been for sure building it for a time like this. All the investigations ending in his favor with not a scratch on him and other motions going forward have stacked the deck in his direction. It's why Pelosi refused to send the articles of impeachment forward without some sort of deal (only to buckle like a child).

Any impeachment trial that goes on will be very damaging to the Dems unless the GOP bypasses that and votes on the articles immediately to shut them down. Even then, it makes the Dems look weak. All that hot air for that? Pathetic.

Doesn't look like that's gonna happen, the senate Republicans have actually been telling Trump to shut up about dismissing it out of hand 'cause they want the trial, specifically because they're gonna use it to out a ton of shit on the Dems. And right in election year, too. This is a case where I think Trump's ego is interfering with his ability to plot, because he should want the trial too... I suppose it's possible he's baiting them and just playing along with the whole "Don't throw me into that brier patch!" thing, but the ego seems as likely.

For being so aware they sure act shocked when they catch up to the rest of us.
Rolling Stone’s Matt Taibbi tweeted, “This is an unusually vile performance by CNN.” The Nation’s Elie Mystal raged, “Jesus Christ I hate these biased questions from the moderators. ‘How would you keep your plan from bankrupting the country?’ JUST ASK THE KOCH BROTHERS TO MODERATE NEXT TIME!” HuffPost’s Zach Carter griped about CNN’s post-debate panel discussion, “CNN’s crew is just straight bashing Sanders post-debate.” The New Republic’s Libby Watson whined, “CNN is truly a terrible influence on this country.”

which possibly fucks a few people on team red over. when it comes to money party doesn't mean much, we really have to wait and see how it turns out. it also makes sense to say "fuck off with that retarded shit" and spend your time on real issues, or the don is playing 4+2d chess, who knows...

Plenty Repubs will want to use this as an opportunity to talk about how awful and inappropriate Trump was. They may vote against impeachment but plenty are still hating Trump.

I largely abhor Trump's roll-back of the Endangered Species Act and Migratory Bird Treaty
Was that roll back due to the wall? I don't like the idea of rolling back protections for endangered species, but i can also see the need to do so in order for the wall to be built. Faggots are trying everything to prevent securing the border wall and have been bragging for years that they'd get shit tied up in courts for years to prevent it. People crying about it's impact on butterflies has made national news
A proposal as wacky and against-the-grain as the border wall
Which has been supported on the campaign trail by every president and likely every hopeful back to ~Reagan.

Correct. You seem a good sort so I think you're pointing this out because it's true and not because you're a nitpicking ape.

There's a big difference between policies that are broadly popular with the American public at large and policies that can survive the D.C. bureaucracy. From a policy perspective, Trump is broadly center-right and not far from the second coming of Ross Perot. As far as people who live in the Acela Corridor are concerned, he's the beast with seven heads and ten horns and hookers riding him.

The wall is an example of something that had broad public support since the days of New Wave music, as you point out, but when it came in contact with the various layers of government actually responsible for enforcing laws and getting things done, it would mysteriously wither and disappear.

Trump is against the grain and beyond the pale as far as the government is concerned. Normal, sane people would most likely find him perfectly sensible and agree with much but not all of what he says, even if they thought him a bit of a braggart.

Much like Bernie when he realized that they were going to fix the game on him anyway if he didn't take a dive in 2016, it's not that he didn't know the DNC and their cronies were corrupt, manipulative cheats and liars, he just never realized they'd do it to him.

So anyway, it looks like Virginia will be next week’s story. Anyone’s guess on how that goes.
I can see the MSM now:

"NAZIS IN VIRGINIA SHOW AT CAPITOL. BRAVE GOVERNOR TELLS THEM OFF."

Not that they weren't producing a spin on the whole VA 2A debacle already. The fact that Antifa are apparently "siding" with the rally adds to the mix. Not that I expect them to help. They're likely doing it to cause problems.

Yeah not nitpicking, i think it showcases your point better than the Bush foreign policy. Maybe W did want to have less war, more peace and love, and in an alternate timeline maybe he could have achieved something on those lines. However all of that went out the fucking window the second the first plane hit the WTC. A sleeping giant was struck and it was obviously going to get up and start clubbing people. Who really struck the giant and did the giant retaliate "correctly" are other conversations.

A popular 20+ year bipartisan issue of securing the border is only now problematic because something is being done to address the issue, rather than just the usual lip service. It's obviously not going to solve all of the issues but it's a good first step to slow human trafficking.

The wall is an example of something that had broad public support since the days of New Wave music, as you point out, but when it came in contact with the various layers of government actually responsible for enforcing laws and getting things done, it would mysteriously wither and disappear.

The reason "deep state" operatives like Z-list diplomats and people like Col. Fat Fuck want Trump dead arguably more than the Dems is that only by making it impossible for the Dems OR the Reps to manage any meaningful policy changes (like a border wall or actual total withdraw of overseas assets) can they assure themselves of many future years of solid overpaid employment. Maintaining the status quo of keeping current problems existent so they can stretch the "solution" out for 40 years is their number-one priority. Because otherwise their position/department/agency may get axed.

The deep state is not a bunch of shadowy figures meeting over a table deep under the Pentagon, subverting the nation for grand global designs.... It's worse, it's pencil-necked NPC-level filing clerks with delusions of grandeur who would derail a nuclear disarmament treaty because they need to keep their job as, say, the military's informational liaison inside the NRC regarding North Korea? Or the official press release writier for the "We'll get the immigration crisis solved someday" part of the Government's Facebook page for eight more years before they're eligible for that pension? And besides, they really WANTED that corner office they are THIS close to getting! How are they supposed to impress the secretaries and paralegals at the bars in Fairfax if they don't have a CORNER OFFICE?! Above ground floor, no less? Why, you can finally see your Lexus in the parking lot from here! And those Lexus payments aren't cheap, you know!

Trump is poisonous to politicians, but he's even more toxic to the millions of useless bureaucrats that desperately don't want to lose their free ride on the taxpayer gravy train, and that's why there's been so many willing leakers inside the current Administration constantly passing classified documents and pure rumored innuendos about Trump's "poor health and mental deterioration" down the line to everyone from the Washington Post to foreign governments, they were looking for ANYTHING to feed to the impeachment mob to save their own JOBS over the will of the people, and found a particularly willing ally in the 21st Century Lugenpresse that, like a kindred spirit, NEEDS outrageous material to stave off their own looming death by obsolescence.

That's why there's all this talk bout' the Deep State, not because it's angry at it's wishes being denied, or that it's feeling heat from it's illuminati masters, it's realizing it's about to have to shed about 39 superfluous division heads, and it won't stand for that. So spoiled are it's benefactors they ahve no problem with getting on air (as long as their face is blurred and Twitter bans anyone who questions you) and saying "Sure, I heard from a friend of a friend of a friend that Trump was in here last week bragging about breaking the law... he TOTES needs impeached!" They'll do ANYTHING to make sure that six-figures in salary and benefits keep being handed to them for the 3 peices of paper a month they have to sign, (reading it first optional if you're the FBI) rolling in.

Trump represents the one thing the government fears more than losing elections, a major internal reshuffling that costs the rank-and-file THEIR WORTHLESS PORK-BARREL "CONSULTANT" EXISTENCE.

Here's what I'm shocked by. The media, for years, has been pissed off at Trump and his supporters for calling them fake news. They're quick to lay the blame for violent acts a right winger does at Trump's feet. But lefties always get a free pass when they do violent shit. Bernie's supporters attempted to assassinate sitting congressmen, shot up that bar in Ohio, and they're on camera talking about how they want to drag MSNBC employees out of their jobs and light them on fire. I haven't heard any of the media outlets exposed by the email leaks put that shit on Bernie.

I guess what I'm shocked by is that the media hasn't yet stepped back and gone "Gee, maybe we shouldn't have given a bunch of violent fifth-column retards a free pass to act like... violent fifth-column retards."

Lolcow Styx said the impeachment is a clear attempt to nullify 2016 election.

I saved these comments posted by these Youtubers who are right on target. The one who mentionned Saul Alinsky got some interesting replies.

The Democrats never forgave the American Peasants for 2016.

No, I think they blew it. Discipline H. Clinton seems to have destroyed the Dem party. The Radicals eat their own eventually.
