One beautiful thing about this whole ruse is that they were able to gruadually scale up the crazyness. Each next stage worked because people bought into the previous stages. Because the backstory was getting so complex, people could no longer just write it off as fake.

You start with a stoner manchild who wants to be a marine. Nothing special right? Then you reveal he is a medicated schizophrenic on welfare, give him a friend who gradually gets more obsessed with drugs and skeletons, make him do ridiculous livestreams. Tupacalypse almost went too far but they were able to pull it off. And then they got to the point where people were able to believe immediately that their character crashed his car on the way to street race a female game dev.

Some people are better experts on MDE than I am, but I think that might be a joke. Sam is awfully concerned with his audience and what kind of people compose it; I can't imagine that if he went mainstream he would be able to control any of that. Teenage stoners would end up eating their stuff and everyone would dig into their past which isn't exactly something you want the Gawker crowd to get a hold of.

I'm more relieved to know that Gail is probably normal. Jace/Jan could still be insane, just a different flavor of insane than we thought. Or some kind of autistic savant, which would be cool but maybe a little creepy.

So, I've read through this thread and I've seen the nail-in-the-coffin evidence of the steam account, but I'm not convinced. See, my problem is that throughout this thread, there's a lot of back and forth where people bring up excellent points for either side. But I can't figure out what the group consensus is on each issue.

It might be helpful if we could have a separate thread where we can hash out these issues, and maintain in the OP what the general consensus is on each argument.

This is what I'm thinking. How much of Jan is in Jace? If it's really good acting, then you would assume not that much autism. If he's pretty autistic, then you'd guess not that much acting, right? They sort of cancel themselves out in my mind.

I keep thinking back to a stream a month or so ago where he was wearing tin foil under his pants, so Obama couldn't get a 3D image of his dick to make a sexbot from. I'm laughing even typing that. If that was 100% acting he deserves an Oscar.

I wasn't at all convinced on the steam account and Jan/Jace stuff.

What did it for me was seeing Tyce and Eli in their MDE guises, it's just too much to be coincidence; Tyce especially, there's almost no denying it's him.

He picked the right group of people, Chris has said and done crazier things than the character Jace so it didn't raise too much suspicion him wanting to street race his sworn Gamergate enemy, especially since at the same time another lolcow is going to court over macing an employee of a game shop all because he's really angry about the colour of a video game characters arms.
