According to Wikipedia, in the book, Nail Polish:

Nail Polish is set at the beginning of the comic series, when Stephie and Ciel met each other.
As the characters explore their femininity, they learn to care for each other, empowering themselves along the way.

Why is Ciel so chill about being mis-gendered? And if the boyfriend is kissing a "girl", why would he need to come out as "bi" to his parents? I'm totally confused.

It's the first time I've seen this and I'm literally cringing. Why do they always have to make creepy webcomics with underlying "everyone's transphobic" tones? Can't they do something just normal and not make it all about being trans?

Billy actually even manages to fail at the "everyone's transphobic" thing because half the time he shows how everyone in the story is themselves trans/genderfluid/whatever else he feels like championing at the time. The characters are perfectly accepted until a strawman comes out of nowhere, then gets "puts down" by one of Billy's self inserts and that's that. Most of the time, characters talk about being oppressed, but I bet if someone with far more patience than myself went back to do the math, there'd be more comics showing the self-inserts being accepted/praised versus them facing any sort of discrimination.

I'd even go so far as to say the discrimination Billy shows is pretty weak. Some terrible comics with the same premise at least show the strawmen doing legit terrible things. The only incidents I can really think of that Billy has shown is Ciel being punched in the locker room and then the odd person calling one of the self-inserts fag or whatever, which lets be real, is going to happen at that age whether or not you're a troon.

The other examples of "discrimination" are just...weird things that don't really happen. That recently posted interview comic/gender reveal rants are good examples, where Billy is trying to imply that creepy adults just want to talk about little kids dicks or whatever. Billy treats just wanting to have a discussion about gender as discrimination, even if he just spent several comics or even entire story arcs doing the exact same thing himself. It is one of the many reasons why his comic is such a joke.

Stephie was the original self-insert for the comic. Sandrat existed long before the comic even existed, as he’s Labelle’s OC from high school.

So we’re dealing with a comic in which Labelle’s best friend is herself and all they do together is talk about how awesome and cool they are for being trans.

They’re BOTH self-inserts. The entire comic is just Labelle having conversations with herself.

Ciels gender fluctuates depending on how many oppression points can be earned

How are these troons even oppressed anyway when they apparently live on Planet Troon, where absolutely everyone is a troon, and anyone who disagrees with anything Billy says immediately turns into a drooling, snarling monster and is dogpiled by a bunch of troons.

Cis people are a persecuted minority on Planet Troon, apparently.

From my understanding (which there should be none of) Stephie is basically Sophie now as a creepy adult woman cosplaying a teenager and Ciel is what Sophie wished she was like in school, a sassy effeminate openly 'queer' kid with a fire sense of humour and cool friends.

But yeah, they're both her self inserts.

This is why Labelle’s comics of her characters being threatened falls flat, because apparently every single character introduced is either trans themselves, related to someone who’s trans, or knows like five separate people who are trans.

That "fear" quote is really ironic considering the way the trans movement uses fear to force parents to transition their kids / let their kids start on a lifetime of medication and dangerous, unethical surgeries, huh? You know, the whole "do you want a living son or a dead daughter?" schtick.

The other comics are.. uh. Wow, that's special. I don't even know the words to use. But I do really love how the trans kid, even though they're ostensibly "male" now that they've said so, still ends up having to take on the "feminine" role in the comic and nurture and care for the actual male characters with hugs and soothing noises and shit. Almost like she's been raised with feminine gender roles! But that's heresy in the troon world, isn't it?
