I think people underestimate how much Vic loves to voice act. He's passionate about it. He feels pride and accomplishment in his voice acting to the point that it brings him to tears just to voice a moderately popular character. He feels a close connection to his characters, to the point where he personally identifies with Edward and refuses to play characters he finds morally objectionable. It's not about the money, it's about the fans and the work. Honestly, he's more like a Japanese seiyuu in his attitude and behavior about voice acting than most dub actors.

I used to be a mediator a long time ago and I can tell you, right now, court-ordered mediation only works if both parties are willing to reach any sort of compromise. It's difficult to compromise between "I want my life back" and "I want you dead".

Unless dying a little on the inside every day counts.

That's why I quit, incidentally.

Isn't it a possibility that Chupp might let these two fight it out without him interrupting them - with someone actually qualified to mediate - and then look at their argument, behavior, and who is more reasonable to make the final decision? Maybe he's pulling a Solomon and hoping if they don't settle it out, they'll make his decision easier.
