I tried to talk to someone about GamerGate, feeling really salty at the description of GamerGate as having 'no real legitimate points' and the links they sent. Especially that last one.

I feel that describing GamerGate as "libertarianism" or "new conservatism" is precisely the politicalisation that Gamergate is against. I'm terribly ignorant on politics and seemingly popular political Western terms like 'right' and 'left' so pardon my naive opinion, but this seems precisely like the derailment and controlling of media narrative that they (we?) are tired of! What about how one of the Guardian people told other staff to not respond since Leigh Alexander is coming on, and many other strange things?

Feeling the "They Live" phenomenon irl is really surreal, upsetting and disconcerting. Perhaps I'll try again. My apologies if this isn't appropriate to post. orz

I suppose they'd be unwilling to admit that it's anti-GG with no points and was formed as a kneejerk white knighting for abusers and corruption.

Yeah, the fact that they get backed y the Anti-Defimation League deserves an answer as to why back something that involves a guy with anti-Israel views. Still, if they get informed of McIntosh's views, they can no doubt drop him as quickly as possible.

But even than it's not unlikely that some FemFreq clone will join hands with the ADL instead of Josh and Anita. ADL might have been needed in 1910s when lynching of Jews was an actual thing, but now it has become just another corrupt political organization. It's never a good sign when an organization is headed by the same person since 1987.
 
Turkey's Family and Social Policies Ministry thinks Minecraft promotes violence against women
Minecraft is a video game that allows the player to make designs with cubes in 2D or 3D. The game has several modes and in some of the modes, the player needs to survive in order to proceed with the game. To survive through all of the various levels one may fight with monsters, create handmade weapons and use them. If the player cannot survive and dies in any of the levels, he/she has to start the game all over again.

The range of monsters the player has to fight in order to keep playing include zombies, skeletons, spiders, witches, giants, dragons, guardians and killer bunnies.

In the higher levels of the game the player may need to kill women, allies and even friends for survival reasons.

The ministry has received many complaints regarding the violent elements, especially against women, in the video game and thus launched an inspection.

If the ministry’s investigation decides that the game encourages violence, the ministry will proceed by opening a law suit against the game for a country-wide ban.

Minecraft, which had been sold to Microsoft for $2.5 billion, had also caused debate in the U.S. for containing elements of violence.

I feel like I have to mention that in Minecraft you don't ever meet any women characters. The only female characters you can meet are other players in multiplayer using a female skin. So this claim is so erroneous it's laughable. You can also kill female players in any multiplayer game. Which would mean essentially you should just ban all video games if you can have the potential to kill women.

/gamergate/ was polled on where politically everyone stood and the overwhelming majority was Left Wing. There was actually an article I remember reading from this conservative individual who claimed Gamergate was doomed to fail because it was run by liberals. And that it should've solely been run by conservatives from the very start in order to succeed.

So the idea that it is some kind of libertarian or neo conservative movement is patently false, it's apolitical.

Lol, the ADL shit totally exploded on /gamergate/ and now every second thread there is about common core and Jews and whatsnot, it's a real /pol/ocaust out there. Accusations of shillery are exchanged between posters constantly, not even in dramatizations of Stalin's life you can see so much paranoia. KiA has its spergs but it looks way better in comparison right now. Pinsof's interview seems to have had very little impact other than energizing GamerGate for a couple of days, I hope that it will have more effect in the future. Georgine Young wrote another article about Poisson's great game heist but I'm not optimistic about any serious thing coming out of it.

ADL decided that they just love Anita's bullshit and made a high school lesson based on it. It uses common core standards so conspiracy theorists who are against it are going apeshit all over /gamergate/, thinking that common core is some kind of conspiracy to indocrtirnate people with whatever. Based Mom is trying to inject some facts and reason into this whole debacle, but I believe her efforts will not help much in calming down the /pol/fags. Some are probably going to sperg harder now because Based Mom is both Jewish (at least according to her wikipedia page) and affiliated with the American Enterprise Institute, which I'm guessing is already tied to a gazallion of different conspiracy theories.

EDIT: I wish there were more Pinsof discussion on 8chan instead of all this crap.

In their defense though, the Pinsof interview was basically a rehash of all the Indie-fensible videos from August. And say what you want about common core, but Anita has no place in it. One part of the common core proposition even suggested that students write a letter to a game company to express their opinion.

Because if there's a single skill we need to make sure people know better, it's bitching about video games. That's just something people don't do anymore.

It'll be all fun and games until she gives herself a papercut and declares that whoever wrote the letter meant for her to be injured, and she'll threaten to sue them for damages since she couldn't possibly code with an injured digit.
