I tried to talk to someone about GamerGate, feeling really salty at the description of GamerGate as having 'no real legitimate points' and the links they sent. Especially that last one.
I feel that describing GamerGate as "libertarianism" or "new conservatism" is precisely the politicalisation that Gamergate is against. I'm terribly ignorant on politics and seemingly popular political Western terms like 'right' and 'left' so pardon my naive opinion, but this seems precisely like the derailment and controlling of media narrative that they (we?) are tired of! What about how one of the Guardian people told other staff to not respond since Leigh Alexander is coming on, and many other strange things?
Feeling the "They Live" phenomenon irl is really surreal, upsetting and disconcerting. Perhaps I'll try again. My apologies if this isn't appropriate to post. orz
