I tried to make a new thread for this but the forums wouldn't let me;
There is a growing group of weebs that think it's cool to pretednt to be yandere, worship yandere and want to date them irl because they think yandere is the purest form of love. This really began to kick off after the Future Diary/Mirai niikki anime

For those of you not in the know; a yandere is basically a psychopath who stalks their love interest and harms/kills anyone that gets between them and their target (eg Yuno Gasai or the bunny boiler from fatal attraction)

In other words, lonely basement dwelling weebs think that being an abusive murderous psychopath stalker is cool and romantic.
I wish I was making this up.

I’ve always hated the yandere worship weebs have. It’s a decent trope for horror, but the fact that this is a widespread fetish just seems unhealthy and gross. What causes this? I get the argument that drawn loli stuff is technically a part of free speech because there’s no victim, which I kind of agree with, but since when were people in denial that lolicon is the same thing? I mean, I’d rather people be attracted to drawings rather than irl kids, (I haven’t done the research to say whether the majority of loli lovers only like the drawings, though, so I can’t comment on that) but it’s still creepy.

Lolicon literally translates to pedophile, as does shotacon. That’s not translating for an agenda, that’s just translating. Just because I call someone a pedo in a different language doesn’t mean the meaning changes. As much as it might hurt for loli lovers to come to terms with that and not want it mentioned in their fantasy, it’s on an objective level, not wrong.

I think i can't put into words how much i truly despise yanderes, and all the worship they get from all anime communities, i pretty much stopped browsing /a/ and i no longer read any comment section in anime streaming sites anymore, it is saddening to see many young men with such a low self esteem to the point they wouldn't mind have partner that will kill them in their sleep

While I believe most people do not have reason to care about whether there is a difference between the terms lolicon and pedophile, the translator should be fully aware given that the scene is clearly a joke setup. Had the scene been about the boy chasing a little girl, instead of having a game found, 'pedophile' would've been significantly more reasonable.
Ultimately, whether or not this particular decision was political or literal, the agendized translations that Funimation made in the past, as well as the firing of Vic Mignogna, make this look like a terrible decision because of all the other bad decisions they've made. Something something not pissing off the customers, which this clearly does.

Anyways, I'm not going to defend lolicon because I'm not an idiot. However, I do have an issue with Funimation continuing to push translations that have clear contempt for the audience viewing it. And maybe you think, that's a good thing for people who like lolicon to be shamed. Yeah. But the problem lies in the fact that Funimation can cover up anime with offensive content in woke paint all they want - they are still profiting and promoting it. They're giving these anime that they hate money (though it may be little) and a wider fanbase. If Funimation hates all this trashy, fanservicy garbage so bad, they'd stick to it and not sell it at all.

But they won't do that because it's all performative, and they want money.

okay i am waaaay outta date on my knowledge of jet. But I remember reading some book on japan mentioning how ether in the late 1980s or early 1990s there was move to make those positions super short term so instead of attracting a keeping a good work force of teachers there would be a constant over turn.

I would think they would have ways to weed out the weebs
