To be fair, the tribunal Yaniv's victims are being forced to endure is anything but illusory. If Yaniv wins, the money he's awarded will be very real too. There are often very real consequences for crossing these people.

What should be done to stop people like Yaniv?

I think making it harder to get the transgender label would be enough to deter most perverts. At least two years of observation by a psychologist should be necessary before your legal gender could be changed to MtF or FtM. Here's the thing: Gatekeeping worked as well as it did for a while because prior to the rise of troonism we at least had metrics. Actual dysphoric individuals were rare - less than 0.05% of the human population - a grain of sand in an olympic-size swimming pool. Because it was so rare, it was shockingly easy to keep a majority of AGP nutters away. It wasn't enough to prevent all, obviously, numbers saw to that - but it was enough to tamp down on this bullshit.

With the rise of social media, however, the AGP fiends were quickly able to outnumber, outmuscle, and hedge out the legitimate Dysphoric individuals. All of them could raise their voices together in opposition to the troons and it wouldn't matter because the Troons out number them hundreds of times to one.

Which is why I said such bureaucracies should not be created. Canada is many things, but its not an autocracy (yet). Use your power as a citizen to agitate against injustice and bad policy. Also reserve your right to use force as well. Obviously under the most extreme of circumstances, of course. Violence is however the ultimate authority, from which all authority is derived. Its a shame that the only good pop culture example of the duty of a citizen is fucking starship troopers. But that is what we got to work with as an example. The powers that be don't like the idea of a politically active citizenry that is aware of their rights and powers.

I think that in many cases, people who have actual gender dysphoria are not likely to be all that out and open about it. Many live in stealth with only their families and intimate partners aware about their true sex. I'm not saying these people should be living in shame or anything but I think most of them just want to go about their lives and are reluctant to get involved or speak out about these issues because that would be either blowing their cover or just getting in the way of living a normal life.

I think a lot of women hope that troonery indicates an erasure of stigmatizing sex roles eg society looking down at male caregivers or stay-at-home-dads, maybe now women will be more respected in their professions instead of dodging grab ass from the boss or being talked over by their male peers, etc. The troons actually reinforce the opposite but the women don't know that at first blush. Yeah it is evidently unfortunately extremely difficult to investigate outcomes for dysphoria via reassignment versus other treatments such as cognitive behavioral therapy because it's seen as 'conversion therapy' and the troons screech their heads off. Even pointing out that the majority of dysphoric teens desist without intervention is nigh unspeakable.

We could avoide all of these problems if we acknowledge that trans people are sick and people who suffer from mental illness will always have limitations. There is nothing wrong admitting this. Some new evidence `points at how the pilot suffered from depression and nobody paid attention. I know the case isn't similar, but this is what happens when we ignore mental illness. In the aftermath of that his mental health status became known and people were asking why he could have been allowed to show for work when declared unfit, people were suggesting perhaps, you know, maybe a depressed suicidal person might not be the best to fly a plane, we should keep people who are mentally ill out of a cockpit, there should be closer supervision, etc. People were losing their shit over that, saying it was discriminatory, that it was "stigmatising", etc etc.

I think it all boils down to mental illness. I'm in a facebook group, and a few days ago these women feminists were going absolutely bonkers about manspreading, and how it's such an evil disgusting act. They also go on and on about rape culture, about how men are evil, how all husbands rape their wives -- yet a dude with a dick can say "I'm female" and they not only accept it, but passionately defend them as if they're actually women. I'm not entirely what these actual women get out of it, but it probably has a lot to do with the internet and how being in these groups, hearing the same shit every day, and only being around one viewpoint distorts reality. It also gives these people, shielded behind their screens a sense of power and makes them feel like they can rewrite the rules. So I get it to a point. What I don't understand is HOW all this trans shit started.. and how it became completely accepted by feminists, who in any OTHER dimension or reality, would laugh their asses off at a guy with a dick claiming to be a woman. It's like we're in an episode of the twilight zone.

I think a big part of the problem is that nowadays we are all so individualized that people think their internal sense of self takes precedence over what the rest of society perceives, and if people trust their eyes and ears in judging somebody's sex, that's actually bigotry and your senses are lying to you.
