I know it's a sperg cliché to think you know more about a work than that work's creator, but this is one case where I genuinely think the spergs could've done a better job.
It's pretty telling when the majority of the stuff in the "Wild Mass-Guessing" section on TV Tropes would make for a better show than what we ended up actually getting. You've gotta try to be that bad.

I feel like part of the issue is the company she kept. Between the politics and inexperience of her storyboard writers and CN's own incompetence affecting every show that didn't have the words "Teen", "Titans" or "GO!" in it, the show was pretty much doomed from the get go.

Unfortunately... You could say that about ANY show on CN right now and before TTG! showed up, honestly. Not just this obviously disapppointing stinker of a show.

I’ll be honest, I don’t actually think TTG deserves most of the hate it gets. The earlier episodes are shit, but it actually got a lot better once the creators basically started doing whatever they wanted, and making fun of the people who rage about the show.

This, but the last episode where they beat White Diamond was terrible and laughably rushed. Basically ruined the whole series for me because they spent so much time building this up and he just makes her his friend... I thought it was going to be Trigun but instead it was Rurouni Kenshin...

But were you surprised at all by the resolution? That’s the main reason why I quit watching this shit. I tried to like it, really I did, because I thought they were going somewhere cool with it.
Like, I’m not even salty about them redeeming Peridot because that was telegraphed pretty early on, but to have EVERY SINGLE VILLAIN suddenly see the error of their ways after Steven gives some dumb speech is r.etarded.

It ain't my cup of tea (and no, I think the original Teen Titans is pretty meh, looking back at it, now.), but yeah - EX-FUCKING-ACTLY. No wonder kids like it (as much as they don't want to admit it, either!) more than this SJWBS (or else it wouldn't be spammed at all.).
GOOD. Whether you like it or not, It's earned that much, honestly - for actually being one of very few Western animated series left that are actually having some teeth to it, unlike these fucking gay space rocks.
In fact, where I look forward to TTG growing its cult following, I look forward to SU slowly developing a hatedom in the future - simply for attributing to some of our current problems... I'm sure you know which ones, by now, too.
Sorry, I already addressed this, but the weeb in me is making me want to say something else.
To compare Steven Universe to Rurouni Kenshin isn’t very accurate. First of all, Kenshin was a way better protagonist who, while identifying as a pacifist and refusing to kill his enemies, was still willing to fight to protect his friends.
I never read the manga, which I know had stuff that wasn’t in the anime, but from what I can remember, not too many of the villains in the anime actually got redeemed. The closest I can think of would be Sojiro (who was probably the coolest character in the show for the record), and even then it was less of a redemption and more him beginning to question what he’d been told and starting his own journey to form a worldview of his own.
Each conflict absolutely WASN’T resolved by Kenshin just talking the villain down and making everything A-okay.
Plus there's a good reason why Kenshin has a no killing rule. His time as hitokiri battousai gives a great justification for that aspect of his character, and a pretty violent one, is not there just cause. The series has Makoto Shishio, an unredeemable motherfucker so I don't get whats so Steven Universe about it.
Oh boy, I can't wait to see them sing and cry about their problems and redeem the villain (again) because that seems to be the only thing this show seems to do.
Other than waste time on charaters, nobody cares about.
Wasn't it established that the damage caused by those drills are irreversible? So, what's going to fix this? Will Steven somehow channel his pink diamond powers and repair all the damage it caused? Will they just move somewhere else?
Eh, I’ve always liked the show for what it is. I understand the hate it can get, but I think people acting like it’s the best/worse thing ever really need to calm the fuck down. The ones that claim to think it’s the best are overcompensating, and the ones that seem to venomously hate it just seem like fans that got overly mad something didn’t go they way they wanted.
All that being said, I’m interested in seeing the movie, and the music seems like it’ll be good.
I'm more interested in just how evil they're willing to let the villain go in the movie. Aside from the drill and the mad laughter, we haven't had a genuinely, completely evil being in the show. And what could Steven do in the face of something that diabolical?
