Star Wars Griefing Thread (SPOILERS) - Safety off

Holy fuck. @GeneralFriendliness, is there any chance that we're looking at a 'Producers' style scam here or something? I cannot believe these people, who presumably have YEARS in the goddamn entertainment park industry, can fuck this up this badly.
I can believe it. And I think the answer is a matter of hate.
You have to remember that most people in the entertainment industry despise their fans these days.
They hate you, they hate me, they hate everyone in this thread.
Bitter old nerds like us aren't cool or woke or anything else these assholes like.
It doesn't that people like us are the ones who will actually buy their merchandise and become recurrent customers. It doesn't matter that we are the people who spread the word about things we like and bring in new fans.
It doesn't matter because we're not the kind of audience they want and these fuckwads are so full of arrogance and social justice they would rather die on the most useless of hills than cater to us and actually make money.
The entertainment industry is fucked.

Yeah, but... it's one thing to hate your audience, but this is their baby, their work. They're deliberately sabotaging something with their name attached to it. It just seems so bizarrely counterproductive.

I don't think they see it as "their baby". It's more the red-headed step child dropped on their doorstep by a negligent parent, and they HAD to make some kind of park because Disney and people would've had a fit if the king of amusement parks didn't make a Star Wars park once they owned the licensing.

i have a feeling a lot of entertainment people spent their lives trying to be the cool kids, and looking down on nerds
and now that nerdy is cool, they hate the fact that they can't just waltz in like a savior and have the nerds all bow down
they want to own nerdy things and nerdy IPs just so they can dangle it over everyone's heads
everyone just moves on, and it pisses them off because they don't understand the idea of rejecting the "cool" and "popular" thing

or maybe i'm reading too much into it, this is what i see

Maybe. But geez, what happened to doing a good job, even when you didn't like it much? Where's their professionalism?

I am flabbergasted with Disney's arrogant ignorance on this matter. Meanwhile park attendance is down, online criticism is up, they're getting their asses kicked by Harry-fucking-Potter, Disney security is under fire over the recent ghetto family brawl at Toontown, and a piece of 4 year old fanart for an SW park is trending again.

Admittedly I'm not 100% sold on this layout, but it certainly looks more imaginative than Disney's park. If I had to go with this design then what I would do is remove the Death Star and replace it with a Star Destroyer that takes you to it as part of a ride, separate each planet/area in the park with walls, trees or buildings and have travel between areas be done via simpler Star Tours-like rides and rename Kamino to Dac/Mon Calamari and give it a white color scheme, unless of course there's a way to simulate constant rain.

In other odd news, Jar Jar is trending on Twitter for some reason. Although this may be related to an easter egg in Galaxy's Edge I know about, but its too obscure for it to be trending on Twitter (or at least it was obscure).

Also since Kat's Kettle may be closing down, should I cover it? Admittedly I didn't want to talk about it before because it was just such a boring and dull food stand, but since it may soon end up going the way of the Dodo, I thought I might as well talk about that shit.

But holy shit that map makes me want to go to that park more than Disney’s shit park. It has all the good elements of the franchise all into one.

This is why I think people will look at Bob Iger the way people looked at Kirk Kerkorian, rich assholes who have no understanding on the brands they buy and profit off of them while those brands decay rapidly.

There's a pod-racer Rollercoaster, a Bespin-Tower and so much more... I love it. The layout should be changed, but overall it's nice to look at a park and see so many iconic things!

Seeing the death star as a giant sphere also reminded me of the Eurosat ride in the "Europapark" (a theme park in Germany).
This is what it looks like from the outside:
csm_EP_Eurosat_5988c42886.jpg

Inside, there's a rollercoaster coiled up in the sphere and you ride in darkness with only a few things highlighted.
Here are the tracks:
b674eece-57c6-3932-87f1-c79c8c736934

There's videos of this ride, but they are either from patrons, that ride in the dark (so you barely see anything) or they are done during maintenance, so there's light and it doesn't really look that impressive.

Disney could -nay!- should have made a similar giant sphere of a Death Star-model and made a ride that simulates the space Battle of Yavin inside that sphere.

Dat ist unn originalgeospheren do not have the stealing ja?

I was thinking of some sort of ride with an X or + shaped track though the middle of the park (as if the tracks were the central X and Y axes) that transported people to all of the various attractions. Although it wouldn't be a necessary part, the Death Star, or some sort of Space station-looking place could be the central hub in the middle.

The think I like about this design is that it seems to have something for everyone, so to speak. If I recall, this fan art came out before the ST, so it only contains items form the OT and PT. In doing so, it has a certain appeal to a broad cross-section of fans. Loved the original films? There's stuff for you! Loved the prequels, we have stuff for you, too. Loved both? You'll want to stay all day (provided the exhibits, costumed performers, and in-galaxy shops are interesting enough).

Galaxy's Edge, on the other hand, is neither engaging nor interesting for anyone that doesn't gush over Episodes VII and VIII.

Also since Kat's Kettle may be closing down, should I cover it?

Count me among those that say, "Yes, please do."

I think George might have plan something like this before Disney took over. I would imagine Disney thought they couldn’t because of Fox owning some of the rights.

The entertainment industry is fucked.

There's something nihilistic at the core of the modern SJW mindset, it's like they basically hate the world and hate anyone who's "stupid" enough to actually be genuinely happy in it.

I feel like many nerds are people who got into fantasy and escapism in order deal with difficult situations in life, I know that's the case for me, in other words we have carved out our own little happiness in this world through brute force and SJWs hate us for it, because they want everyone to be as miserable as they are, they want to "bring everyone back down to Earth" and shatter any illusions and ruin any fun because they see it as more "real", they see us as cheaters in the game of life, too smart for our own good and yeah, they take great pleasure and joy in ruining the things we love, even if it costs them a lot of money, it's worth it for them because the only thing that truly bring them happiness is creating misery in others.

It's frankly evil, it's a literally evil mindset, that's not hyperbole, although they see themselves as the only moral people because to boil this mindset down to it's core, the idea is because it's an imperfect world where some people are happy and some people are not, no one deserves happiness, it would be better for everyone to be equally miserable than the inequality of some being happy and some being not.

And so long as these type of people are the ones with all the power yeah, the entertainment industry may truly be fucked, there may come a day when the only worthwhile entertainment is stuff from the past, we're almost at that point already, at least we have decades and decades of it.

I don't doubt that mindset is within Disney nowadays and they probably literally made GE shitty on purpose because it gives them a sick sense of joy, for the same reason Rian Johnson made TLJ the way it was.

I wish to hear the sad tale of Kat’s Kettle. Did they not use references in the product names? A bit of Coruscant Caramel, Buttery Bespin, or... Salted Sith? I’ll be honest I love popcorn but I don’t think it needs an entire store in the Star Wars themed Disneyland attraction.

So the bullshit scanners finally arrived. If you recall I mentioned that one of the supposed promises of the park was to keep track of your reputation which would be used to increase your "immersion" by making it so meet&greets like nu-troopers and nu-rebels at the park would talk to you differently based on your reputation as well as giving you discounts based on the level of your reputation. But if you had incredibly low reputation characters would treat you like shit and if you have low reputation and have the worst score on the shitty falcon ride, a nikto bounty hunter will start harassing you at the cantina (which I said before sounds like a really bad idea that while neat could result in some exceptional drama if they have your actors treat certain spergs the wrong way). Yeah, this will certainly go over well if they still plan to make it work like that... Just tear this shit down and use a familiar location Disney and make it actually fun ffs.

Are we playing world of warcraft now? If I grind enough reputation do I get a mount and tabard at exalted? Is there a repeatable daily for collecting 15 porgs?

It's like Disney was given a free money machine but instead of just pressing the big red button on the front, they rip out the machinery and use it as an outhouse instead.

So Disney is testing a social credit score? I'm sure excited for where that's heading...

Although many points are in favour of a 'the producers' style scam, i can't believe in it simply from how hard they are trying to bilk customers via merchandise.

In all seriousness your infodumps have been amazeballs and i'd like anything you'd be willing to provide.

I'm pretty sure they've dabbled in cheevos for the app prior to this, like "see all of Fantasyland" and shit.
