They could state it outright, and I don't think many people would blame them. You can't fucking reason with alcoholics/addicts.
Did you hear how he snapped at Flamenco for "trying to intervention him"? Ralph doesn't think he has a problem.
This might be their way of showing him that he does. He can't even run a fucking stream. That's literally his only job.

If he was taking opiates he would be nodded out by now, especially on top of booze. This is 100% an alcohol and benzo blackout. These sorts of blackouts can last hours with the person walking around and talking perfectly fine, just slurred.
It's much easier to get a quick benzo script for "anxiety", pretty hard to get pain pills outside of those sketchy cash only places since the opioid epidemic is in full swing, most doctors have pulled back on the scripts. I highly doubt Ralph knows any street dealers, he's basically a NEET.

To anyone thinking Ralph is "performing": why do you think that? His two most previous episodes he sounded hammered, and we can tell Flamenco was trying to finesse the show away from him. As to why Gator and Flamenco are even on with him, I think either both are setting him up, or Flamenco is trying to demonstrate to Gator "see, both of us would make for a better show without THIS".

@Lord Akira confirmed prior to Ralph going to jail, that Ralph had the ability to get pot, meth, and various other drugs from dealers. Don't doubt the urge of a druggie to go to the shady part of town even if that person is a fat little Gunt.
