If Disney had acquired a casino in Las Vegas and had run it the way they have run the Star Wars franchise, they'd start by refusing to comp free rooms and drinks to all of the Whales, and comp them only to Womens Studies Majors and College Professors. Then, they'd rip out all of the slot machines and replace them with PCs that have "woke" games like Depression Quest and Gone Home installed on them. Then they'd serve nothing but Vegan food at the buffet, and have nothing but black, tranny, wheelchair-bound poetry slams on all of the stages and entertainment venues. And then they'd put "The Force is Female" t-shirts and "Male Tears" mugs in the casino souvenir gift shop.
Then they'd stand back, slap their foreheads and wonder why they were losing money. "We catered to all of the Right People!" they'd exclaim. "We want Good People in our establishment! Not sexist, racist, bigoted manbabies! Since we're on the Right Side of History, the problem must be that we're not catering to the Good People enough! We need to double down and put more Feminist and POC-friendly content in our casino! Someone quick! Round up a group of 400+ lb women and trannys that we can turn into a Showgirl Revue headlined by Leslie Jones!"
e were cheering, cause the franchise was no longer owned by Lucas, who was seen as the one holding the brand back. No wonder these suits thought they were going to have an easy time, everything was in the green. Unfortunately, they didn't realize that this surge in goodwill and hype also meant it would need to be paid off by their product, so they stumbled headlong into a substantial amount of backlash when TFA invalidated the OT while ripping it off (but still mixed in with a shitton of praise)... then came TLJ and shit went south entirely. When you have to pay off a fuckton of reviewers and influencers to literally tell everyone "TLJ made a lot of people angry - and here is why that's a good thing", then shit is on fire, yo.
See, this is where I stand and assumed probably happened behind the scenes.
When Kennedy was hired to run Lucasfilm, she presumably had no idea what to go from ROTJ. And let’s be honest, excluding the EU, it would be a challenge for anyone to follow up after ROTJ. It’s almost like Lucas dared Disney to make a justifiable sequel trilogy. And they did, except there was the problem.
After struggling with not knowing what to do, she eventually hired JJ to direct. JJ of course loves the OT like Hollywood loves Obama and presumably hated the prequels. However, like Kennedy, JJ had no idea where to build off from ROTJ and just went “Fuck it, let’s wing it!” Now I could assumed happened next is that they retconned the EU and then had a off the record non-disclosed script contest and Michael Arndt’s was the presumed winner and they build it off from there.
For TLJ, I could think RJ didn’t like what JJ set up and just fucked around with it, which caused JJ to also fucked around with ROS. Basically the development of the ST is winging it with no plan. And it shows.
*words*
He never did have plans (before 2012) because he never intended to make a sequel trilogy. For years before 2012, George and Lucasfilm would always reject the notion of a sequel trilogy because they believed that the original six films encompassed the entirety of George's saga, but that was until he saw a new opportunity to reinvigorate the franchise around 2012 with the sell of the franchise to Disney who were interested in making the sequels, so I guess he thought that since he can't stop them from making one, he may as well start coming up with something and make a profit while doing it, which is when he brought in Arndt as a writer and Kasdan as a consultant to help him come up with ideas for a new sequel trilogy, which leads up to the wall of text and concept art I just posted. So, did he always have plans as far back as the 80s? No. But he certainly did start forming something with others in 2012 but it wasn't part of some grand plan or vision, it was a basic sketch of a film built upon storyboards and concepts that never got to be solidified as George was pushed out. As for his midichlorian thing, its weird really. His midichlorian concept was only first ever mentioned around May 2018 when TLJ hate was still very high and getting worse, which seemed like an all too convenient time for this revelation and many news articles who talked about it conveniently used George's idea as a defense for TLJ and Disney. George first revealed this midichlorian concept as central to the plot of the sequels in James Cameron's Story of Science Fiction, a book filled with interviews from different scifi filmmakers, yet none of this midichlorian concept shows up anywhere before 2018 nor in The Art of Star Wars: The Force Awakes. Some online like to think this was purposely done so as to "improve" TLJ's image but its more likely that George really did want an idea like this pushed but didn't want to share the midichlorian concept with Kasdan and Arndt just out of fear that Disney would reject it.Wait, I thought Lucas had no firm plans at all and wanted to do some microscopic midoclorean bullshit?
Oh boy...Rejwan will oversee a new slate of feature films and episodic series for Lucasfilm and Disney+ and continue to produce with Kennedy as Star Wars franchise is built out.
Too true. George is a good idea man and storyteller, but he's definitely not a good writer or editor. With more tweaks and a competent writing crew, that concept film could've been something special if Kennedy and JJ hadn't gotten involved. This actually sounds amazing. If Lucas could only step back and act as a Storyteller and hire a decent writer, this sounds like an amazing story. Fuck me, better than the boring shit we got.
Even the news media is becoming aware that JJ is more of re-fashioner than an actual creator. And I'd hate to be 'that guy' but JJ's management of media is something you'd expect from a Happy Merchant parody.Honestly wouldn't be too shocked if JJ also demanded as a part of his deal with Disney the EU is canned and can't be sold too. I believe this given he has this one trend I've noticed when he gets hold of an IP: desire for complete control over the marketing.
He desperately seems obsessed with controlling all forms of merchandising he can, and he seems to despise not having all of it for himself. This can be seen in the semi-true/semi-rumored "25% different" stipulation for Nu-Trek that would allow his side to earn money from toys and shit. This is also why you never really see any original works that is not modified in Star Trek too; so he can maximize the toys that he gets the money from.
This same quality can be seen in Star Wars, given this weirdo actively changed C-3P0's arm and the Falcon's antenna array just to guarantee he can get control over the toys. He is blind to the fact that no one wants this shit too, given he's been doing this for years, movies, and even shows, and none of that shit is really selling.
...and now he has signed a $500 million deal with Warner. Who knows what he's going to reboot. Babylon 5?he has this one trend I've noticed when he gets hold of an IP: desire for complete control over the marketing.
Man, now I’m curious if he’ll cast Jared Leto as Voldemort’s son in his shitty Harry Potter sequel. Also JJ and WarnerMedia are in the process of a 500mil mega deal so I have to wonder what he plans toconsumere-invent next. On that note, has he tried to do to Westworld what he did with ST and SW?
Gotta love that you just can keep fucking up and get away with it thanks to Mission Impossible III.Also JJ and WarnerMedia are in the process of a 500mil mega deal so I have to wonder what he plans to![]()

consumere-invent next. On that note, has he tried to do to Westworld what he did with ST and SW?
Really? I only ever watched like one episode of that. Just how badly did he fuck up Westworld? But from what I remember, Season 2 of Westworld killed it.
And to comment on the Harry Potter... I legit don't know if he could out shit JK Rowling on that; he might be able to but she's been taking a hacksaw to her own product regularly just to stay relevant.
JJ will definitely want to be the one to handle the upcoming reboot films and try and take control of all the merch. But like you said, its hard to "top" JK's nuttiness or the books/films that came after the first one. In fact, both JK and JJ are so similar in mindset that I wouldn't be surprised if they work closely together or JK applauds everything that he does.Man, now I’m curious if he’ll cast Jared Leto as Voldemort’s son in his shitty Harry Potter sequel.
I'm not sure. I haven't paid close attention to FFG in years nor the consequences of different licenses. What I do know based on what fa/tg/guys say is that FFG is notable for being one of the few publishing both Disney canon and pre-Disney canon material (the only other one being TORtanic and some mobile game). Maybe if you have a license from Disney you're restricted to OT and Disney Sequel media, but if you get one from Lucasfilm you can use old canon media too...? That's just my guess.I have noticed that Fantasy Flight Games are publishing their Star Wars releases under a license directly from Lucasfilm.
Is there a difference between a Star Wars license from Disney and one from Lucasfilm?
Never watched Westworld, but apparently they did not have a clue on what to do with it after the first season and it just became a pile of shit. I believe I remember the dad killing his kid or some shit on Fathers day was one of them.Really? I only ever watched like one episode of that. Just how badly did he fuck up Westworld?

Idk, seeing Harry Potter going full Avatar on Jared Leto playing Voldemort or his son is something JJ or RJ would so honestly. And to comment on the Harry Potter... I legit don't know if he could out shit JK Rowling on that; he might be able to but she's been taking a hacksaw to her own product regularly just to stay relevant.
Also I just remembered something I read about a little while ago, but Kingdom Hearts III had a little Lucasfilm license in their credits saying something like "droid property of LucasFilm". Anyone know more about this?
In September 2008 -- nearly 31 years after the premier of Star Wars -- George Lucas’ parent company, Lucasfilm, trademarked the word “droid”. The filing, shown above, was granted in May of 2009, and claimed exclusive use of the term for the following applications:
Lucas’ filing was timely, and likely synchronized: a few months later, in October of 2009, Verizon released its Droid line of phones (HTC and Motorola). In the first week, Verizon sold an estimated 250,000 Droid phones; by 2.5 months, they’d sold 1.05 million. All the while, Lucasfilm received a handsome chunk of change from Verizon for lending their Droid trademark.“Wireless communications devices, including, mobile phones, cell phones, hand-held devices and personal digital assistants, accessories and parts therefor, and related computer software and wireless telecommunications programs; mobile digital electronic devices for the sending and receiving of telephone calls, electronic mail, and other digital data, for use as a digital format audio player, and for use as a handheld computer, electronic organizer, electronic notepad, and digital camera; downloadable ringtones and screensavers; cameras, pagers & calling cards.”
To keep a trademark active, one must vigorously defend it, sometimes excessively; this is exactly what Lucasfilm has done. Since 2009, they’ve taken legal action against a number of companies that have employed any variation of “Droid.”
Are they trying to make her the next Kevin Feige because they are fools if so.Speaking about JJ, one of his production assistants is now in charge of the live-action part of LucasFilm.

The licensing dispute for Star Trek is about to be pointless soon since CBS and Paramount are about to merge soon, which I argue that their streaming service could make Disney nervous a little given Paramount’s library.Never watched Westworld, but apparently they did not have a clue on what to do with it after the first season and it just became a pile of shit. I believe I remember the dad killing his kid or some shit on Fathers day was one of them.
As for HP, JJ would probably just fuck up the ending by letting a buffoon run it. Star Wars was a team effort comprised of the Following:
You can see a massive team-up of failure in Star Trek too:
- JJ Abrams himself: Wanted control over the product, Stalinistic marketing means we won't see much of the classics until he's gone. Set up the failure via his usual 'can't finish ways'. Often uses shitty media tricks to pretend that his take on popular IPs aren't failing.
- Kathleen Kennedy: Bitter Middle-Management Bitch. Was promoted just from being there and seemed to do nothing. A contempt for the men that she fetched coffee for and wanted her Mary Sue fanfictions realized and damn the cost to good story or competent management. Is responsible for the wokeshit and demolition of the OT characters.
- Rian Johnson: Tard-raged over the expectations put on him, and so out of petty spite demolished his own movie by using a comedy plot structure. Kennedy keeps pretending that he's getting more movies.
It took a trained team of entitled fuck-ups failing upwards to get these kinds of shitshows.
- Les Moonves: Disgraced CEO of CBS. Despised Star Trek to the point he confuses it with Star Wars most of the time and cancelled Enterprise despite it still raking in 2 million views at the time. Controlled Discovery at first and fired the creatives and brought on boomer romance show writers before getting MeToo'ed.
- JJ Abrams: Wanted control over the product, Stalinistic marketing means we won't see anything because both CBS and Paramount hate each other. Actually fucking directed Into Darkness holy shit. Was the exceptional individual in chief who commissioned:
- Alex Kurzeman: This fuck up only ever made it thanks to Mission Impossible III. Other than that, has done work for such trashfires as Bayformers 1 & 2, Amazing Spiderman 2, and so many other shitshows. Only experience watching Trek was at a friends house like five times. Also managed to singlehandedly demolish Season 2's budget and was so bad CBS forced him away only a few episodes in and FIRED HIM.
As for the Licensing, it's more because they don't want to give Jorge money. It's standard Abram's grubbing behavior.
Has there ever been any actual confirmation of this like a stockholder report? I still find it hard to believe Disney would give up a single nickle of Star Wars merchandise money given the printing press it was for Lucas.Honestly wouldn't be too shocked if JJ also demanded as a part of his deal with Disney the EU is canned and can't be sold too. Sounds way better than what we got and would you look at that, the concept pictures feel more Star Warsy than Disney shit. The only ones i don't particularly care for above: the girl with multiple training droids for continuing the complete: 10x more powerful mary-sue character trope and the samurai helmet. Somebody with more EU knowledge might 'actually' me with how it totally fits, it just feels a little out of place to me (which could also be due to the closeup/drawings style).
There's that interview with a TFA writer who states Luke was cut because he is the more interesting character and as soon as he is introduced nobody gives a shit about bland boring Rey. I'd expect the same thing happening here, Talon would instantly be the more liked, interesting character and overshadow the approved Disney corporatesurprised they didnt go with talon. She seems like she would have been some serious waifubait
I believe that can be credited to the fact that most of these were done by Rick Carter who seemed to have a better knack at understanding and mimicking the unique style of the franchise. However he was soon joined by Darren Gilford to serve as a production designer alongside Carter. Gilford is best known for his work in Tron Legacy and Oblivion (the Tom Cruise movie, not the game), and his style isn't exactly one that's good at looking like Star Wars since he has a very recognizable "minimalist" or "empty" style, which is sadly noticeable in a lot of designs for the Disney films' planets and backgrounds.Sounds way better than what we got and would you look at that, the concept pictures feel more Star Warsy than Disney shit.
I got no 'AKTUALLY's to give on this one. Only instance I can recall of an apprentice training with a dozen combat remote droids around him was an illustration of young Anakin in an old jedi guide from around 2008ish.The only ones i don't particularly care for above: the girl with multiple training droids for continuing the complete: 10x more powerful mary-sue character trope and the samurai helmet. No other interesting / sexy females allowed you WILL love Rey.

This can't possibly end well. The latest Star Wars news is sure to rile up all those geeky gamers and comic artist pros out there, waiting to watch how Lucasfilm sabotages itself next. Disney has officially hired its own equivalent to Kevin Feige to oversee the entire Star Wars live-action franchise. And so far, she's only produced one movie that hasn't even been released in theaters yet, which already has quite a few fans raising an eyebrow.
J.J. Abrams was forced out of his comfort zone while shooting Star Wars: The Rise of Skywalker. Editor Maryann Brandon says they had less time to work on this installment when compared to the previous two, so some timesaving tactics had to be utilized while production was underway. Lucasfilm parted ways with Colin Trevorrow in September 2017 after he worked for two years on the final installment of the Skywalker saga because he was reportedly the wrong fit behind the camera. This led to a pretty significant delay when Abrams stepped on board.
With Colin Trevorrow gone, Lucasfilm and J.J. Abrams had to scramble to get The Rise of Skywalker off of the ground and had to change the release date. Even with the release date delay, they were still up against the clock to get the movie ready for theaters. Maryann Brandon had to convince Abrams to let her edit while they were still shooting. She explains.
