It actually happens all the time - but a lot of those "degenerate lifestyle" people actually like talking about it more than doing it.

In this specific case, it seemed like Heidi had a really milquetoast and long distance relationship with someone who likely couldn't even fuck her. It was this fun thing her and Jared were doing and probably was "really cool" in the circles they ran in. However, once Jared expressed interest and found someone (who allegedly hugely reciprocated interest) the fun part of poly was over. Now it was the reality of "my husband is going to nail this other girl" and she (like everyone does in that scenario) freaked the fuck out.

She's mad because it didn't stop when she wanted it to stop (which is fair, in polyamory) but she's also probably mad at herself for effectively hiring and training her own replacement, inadvertently. She thought (like all poly trainwrecks) that wasn't any way she would be replaced by someone else and was floored when she was.

For many people, it's a fun thing to talk about but substantially less fun once you actually deal with the repercussions of doing it.

This is how I think the whole shitstorm happened.

- Heidi gets married to Jared. She's a huge fangirl of his and claimed she is one of the rare guys she finds attractive.
- After some time Jared gets bored and uses his popularity to start being slimy with fans, making body-posi exchanging nudes etc
- Heidi is still a raging fangirl and even though she doesn't like it, she decides to be the "cool girl" and pretend she's fine with it (similar to Onision and Laineybot situation)
- It escalates, Jared is messaging fans and plans to have sex with them (does it during cons).
- Heidi doesn't end the marriage like a mature adult, instead desperately tries to control the situation - continues with her "cool girl" act and proposes polisexual relationship.
- Jared is like "yeah sure" and continues his endeavours. Heidi gets some FtM tranny to pretend to be her boyfriend and then desperately tries to make Jared communicate with her, does the whole "wanna teach my boyfriend how to fuck me?" (lmfao "he" doesn't even have a dick)
- As we could see from leaked convos Jared had with his fangirls, some of the fangirls were seriously crushing on him and were probably hoping to become something more - Heidi sees she still can't control the situation (Jared doesn't give a shit about the communication and boundaries in poli relatioship that Heidi started)
- Heidi sees that Holly, who is one best friends, is also crushing on Jared.
- Thinks that it's better if he's fucking Holly than fangirls who might steal him away. And since Holly is her best friend, she will totally respect her boundaries and just be a fucktoy on the side.

- She gives them green light but it turns out Holly doesn't give a shit about Heidi and wants Jared for herself.
- Jared gaslights both of them.
- Heidi probably finally comes to conclusion that he'll never stop fucking around and is very butthurt that Holly played her too.
- Holly thinks she's her DnD character fighting for the forbidden love that will end the world uwu.
- Jared just tries to have as much as pussy as possible, even underage.
- Heidi decides to "close" the polisexual relationship, gives Jared the ultimatum. Jared chooses his side bitch.
- Divorce starts, Jared being the gaslighting asshole, posts that public divorce tweet.
- Heidi opens the floodgates
- Holly checks into the tumblr hospital

the simplest explanation is she's a possessive fangirl who went nuclear when she realized that the creepy sleazeball is about to replace her for what she perceives is (agreeably) a downgrade.

Is she really trying to act like she doesn't know how the internet works? She absolutely knew what was going to happen as soon as she posted her "Projared cheated on me" tweet. If she really thought bystanders being harassed was "unacceptable" then she would have handled everything privately, or at least came out with it after the divorce was finalized.

Heidi already confirmed that night is what got her mad the next day and started the angry texts with Holly. How narcissistic do you have to be to demand that your husband be talking to you and thinking about you while he's supposed to be with another person?

Holly's receipts reinforce that image of narcissism. Heidi screams that she wants her husband to think of her during sex, not Holly. Which is a legitimate demand for a monogamous spouse, but that is just cruel to demand of a 3rd person you invite into the relationship, that they shouldn't even be thought about. She even freaks out when she suggests a 3some centered around her, and Jared doesn't immediately agree to pass his wife around because he's thinking about work.

She wants the literal erasure of everything that could compete with her in Jared's thoughts, and when she got paranoid that she wasn't the top thot in his brain she shut everything down and started threatening jobs, careers, and other people's shows.

Jared and Holly are still scum for different reasons (the fan images and cheating on Ross, respectively). But Heidi has yet to show anything that counters this view of her not being able to handle anything that took attention away from her.

Off-topic but relevant, about a year ago we had a guys night of poker and drinks. We've all been friends for a long time and had talked about it for years, so it finally happened. I think only 1 of the 8 guys there wasn't dating or married at that time. My girlfriend at the time only text me once to say she was heading to bed and hoped we were having fun. I didn't message her back until the next morning when we got up. Not a single problem. The guys with girlfriends that were understanding did the same, maybe one message but that's all. Then there were the controlling, bitchy ones that didn't understand why they still weren't the only thing on their boyfriend/husband's mind and constantly messaged them. We even made one of them give up his phone, and his girlfriend called one of the other guys after an hour to "make sure he was ok". They broke up a few weeks later and he said when he called her the next day she was fuming that he was "ignoring her".

It's controlling and manipulative. If a bunch of women were doing a girls night and one of their boyfriends was demanding attention like that, they'd call them abusive. Leave it alone. You know what's going on, don't be petty and don't be a cunt.

She's not an ascended fan that got lucky after he got big, she's been there before it happened. So this isn't a case jilted fangirl, but more a college/first real romance that's passed it's sell by date.

The rest I mostly agree with you there, though I think the poly relationship thing on her end was more a case of;

a) already lacking something in the marriage she wasn't getting (Jared's attention mostly)
b) also a case of something exciting and new

I mean the whole thing is a hot mess, but I think Heidi really just wanted to do things to make Jared snap out of a "meh whatever you want" mood with her. Only rather than try and work it out person to person, she tried to do it by setting up situations.

It's not a college romance. I don't remember where Heidi said it (probably in one of her streams) but she met Jared at a convention where Jared was hosting/announcing an event of sorts.
