Really good point actually, has there ever been a explanation for why he pukes all the time? I wanna say it's him trying to stay "battle ready" or whatever.

It's been discussed in great depth. It's been speculated that Jace suffers from uncontrolled Gastritis or similar - or that it's a manifestation of an extremely nervous state of mind. He pukes more when he's stressed, high or has been drinking alcohol, to the extent that he often keeps a bucket close by. Smoking makes him gag and cough and this often leads to intense retching and puking.

The more we see of the Gamer Cabin, the more apparent it becomes just how completely helpless Eli and Jace are without somebody to do basic shit like clean and cook for them. I don't think it's unusual for somebody to move out of home, realize they don't know nearly as much about taking care of themselves as they thought they did, and then gradually adjust to the new responsibilities, but it doesn't even seem like these two have even gotten as far as being aware of the squalor they live in. Food is rotting on the floor inches away from Eli and his main concern is that the microwave can't burn a piece of paper. He literally does not have a bed to sleep in and it just seems like...he hasn't noticed?? It's so weird. For a bunch of overly-entitled middle-class white kids, they're remarkably adaptable to poor living conditions, Eli especially. It's easy to forget he spent months homeless and wandering around a very foreign country by himself.

I'm beginning to wonder if Eli's not totally cognizant or aware of his surroundings the way most people are. Sometimes it seems like he's just in this perpetual fugue-ish state or something and isn't completely "there." I prefer to assume that he's one of those people who is just always high, but even then, his behavior and the way he reacts to the situations life presents him with are so strange. I'm so curious what the inside of Eli's mind looks like. It must be incredible to own a brain that examines these insane situations Eli gets put into and then seems to just shrug and go "oh okay."
