I think with Haberkorn it doesn't have anything to do with the Thotwhore shit. How much play has that really even gotten? Not much. Todd hasn't been fired from shit. He's still doing shit with WatchMojo.

I think it's because he's basically thrown in with Vic and Nick, and he's retained Ty as an attorney. They're worried about what he might do. They're trying to warn him off.

But couldn't their actions also be construed as hostile on their part, especially since they did the same to Vic before they fired him? You'd think they'd know better, but then again they've been complete asses in every other way.

I've only put together a computer twice and I know that you could not distribute porn that is "put in there by the original owner" without manually going into the torrent network via your torrent client since he can't use the OS that was installed in the hard drive, the installation of the torrent client if it was a fresh install from the top down would not know where to find the file to distribute, and you have to download the torrent information manually by looking for it in the internet.

Youre not wrong, some how magically he bought a hard drive, that when installed, in his new motherboard, he didnt need to format to have it detect, it also knew that when he turned the pc on to turn on whatever client that was "worse than limewire" and start seeding cp, all the stars aligned and hes innocent completely, the VA defending him did it poorly, talking like an old lady explaining computors to other old ladys, she was quick to pull out a con Vic was in that could have had her raise the money she needed too.

Iirc she was so desperate that she had signed dbz stuff to auction off.

Mostly.

Assuming it's a used drive with pre-existing OS and user config, and assuming he was able to boot it or make it bootable on a different system (doable), he'd still have to have pre-existing user credentials or the account would have to be blank password, then he'd have to go out of his way to fire up an allegedly pre-configured torrent client that already had existing torrent data of the CP in question.

But... the one big problem there is that the very first thing LEO would do is verify the data particulars on the hard drive (after they CoC'd all the evidence and imaged it with the image getting it's own CoC), first and foremost being the file timestamps to match up with their investigative log client side of his activity. They KNOW when it was first downloaded to the machine. If that date is after he acquired the hard drive, he's fucked.

Actually he's fucked regardless because he's still guilty of distributing whether he was aware of it or not (but realistically, they got him on the data download as well because obviously it's a bullshit story).

If it was a secondary drive for storage then your scenario is accurate and he's even more retarded because in order for him to unknowingly share such material he would, as you said, have to link that directory up for torrenting (or move the data where he is sharing it) AND reshare the actual damn torrent (a scenario even dumber than the system drive scenario), which legally still has him on the hook.

I'm all for innocent until proven guilty but I know what I know, and there's a lot of other people hanging around here that have private/commercial/enterprise experience with PC/IT and his story is fucktardedly unrealistic.

Most of the more popular posts are still reactions to the initial firing of him from RWBY (and one shitpost I found a little funny which was a Qrow RP account going "Sorry if I sound different next time I exorcised a demon from my throat."), one small-time blogger who calls Nick the blackface lawyer/grifter and blames everything on the alt-right, and a supposed "analysis" blog for RWBY (from what I know about her she's really bad at analysis and only cares about the show because of shipping) who didn't even manage to spell "alt-right" correctly.

His excuse is the second worst thing he could have come up with besides a non-excuse. I think it would have been better for him to lean into his obvious stupidity. Go with something like 'Oh, I was downloading a less illegal file of ill repute, as it turned out it either A: installed a trojan which downloaded all sorts of random stuff on my computer! I'm too stupid to clean it properly, and you see I just didn't notice the CP that came from it! or B: had those files as a part of it, and when I later cleaned up the torrent, I did it badly and didn't get those."

They're bad excuses, but they're still better than his. He might even convince a jury that's either not familiar enough with computers to know better or is fully convinced of his pure stupidity by looking at him and his arrest record. The 'it was there already!' is just...bad. If at least he didn't claim to assemble it, but buy it complete, it could be argued he's a nimrod who doesn't know the first thing about dealing with used computers. Since he argued he put it together, though, that implies a level of competency too high for that excuse. The tragedy of his life is that he's too stupid to use his stupid to his advantage.

And also that he probably downloaded CP and couldn't be bothered to keep it from seeding while he did so.

Why is it so difficult for these people to grasp the concept of an "agent"?

How can they not understand that it is now up to Funimation to prove that Ron was not an agent? How can they not understand that if Funimation successfully establishes that Ron was not an agent, all that does is make Ron personally liable for damages instead of Funimation possibly paying the settlement tab for all of the defendants in order to end this quickly?

It is my understanding from Nick's streams and Ty's explanations all peppered with a healthy dose of Google-foo; that even if FUNi can prove Ron is not an agent he still has apparent agency because of his/hers declarations. Sealing it is FUNi's not squelching that nonsense and denouncing those posts.

No, it's not that. I don't feel like trying to quote it specifically, but Nick heavily hints that their strategy to turn his fans against him is that would kill him. From what I got out of it, Vic has had or currently has certain psychological issues/self esteem issues/something, and the love and support of his fans is as deeply important to him as his love and support is to them.

Not a psychiatrist, but after watching so many videos of Vic talking at panels I think he just really wants a family and that makes him get attached to people very quickly.

He doesn't have any siblings and his dad is a deadbeat who left him and his mom when he was a kid, so that probably plays a big part in it. He's said that since he didn't have much family growing up, he views his coworkers as family. He says Aaron Dismuke and Todd Haberkorn are like his little brothers and Caitlin Glass is like his little sister.

Beyond coworkers, he's also stated that since he's so much older than most of his fans and he never had biological children, he feels like his fans are his kids. Makes it all the more disgusting that kickvic keep trying to paint his Ranger club as something dirty.

Examples of VAs I absolutely know are SAG include Travis Willingham and D.C. Douglas. Haberkorn is also SAG according to his resume (I dunno about Vic).

Vic is a SAG actor. He states in the video I linked above at the 36:00 mark that all of the actors who worked on his Star Trek series were SAG actors.
