And this is some special recording studio that must be used for Chinese cartoons for some reason?

Money. He probably lets them use it at cost or just above.

Who is this guy anyway?

CRP is an alt-right grifter and con artist. Stole some guy's name and website and refused to take it down until he was forced to. Was involved in the Kraut drama / hoax; IIRC he advocated for a rape hoax against Kraut to have him put in jail for a few years to silence him.

You can't put the genie back in the bottle. People would just pirate and fansub anime just like in the early 2000s.

People still do. Some people sub to CR or what have you out of a sense of moral responsibility, but still others hit up bittorrent. However, a lot of the "fansub" groups literally just rip CR subs and insert them into higher quality raws, so...

No.

And it turns out, his leverage may have been vastly overstated. It's only used for DBZ. Funi has their own internal studio.

Whoa whoa whoa I think we can all agree, F**K Harmony Gold.

Sure, but there's saying that, and then there's sperging out over it for decades at a time like we're witnessing a crime against humanity. Like, if you grew up watching the original 85 episode Robotech, and say you liked it, some of them want to slit your throat for... reasons... I guess.

Also, there are those of us who think Macross has gotten increasingly ridiculous. You can watch fansubs of everything. Some of it ain't worth even that though (IMHO).

EDIT: It's also a VERY insular community, which isn't very welcoming to newcomers or mildly dissenting opinions. I've heard Type Moon fanboys are the same way.

I just peaked over at the trashfire thread.

Yep. You're right. Nick is 100% right for staying the fuck out of this.
Preemptive apologies for being offtopic
I'm not a IBS fan and only noticed it due to the huge activity on their threads and now i can't look away from the train wreck in progress. Some people are trying to push the IBS crown onto Nick's head since the Shane incident (and ongoing IBS dumpster fire) and I hope he continues to ignore those people. Anybody who touches IBS turns to shit, I want him to continue his fun lawsplaining and having guests on for relevant topical discussions.

Anybody interested and wondering why Nick won't touch the dumpster fire should search for 'summary' in Ethan's thread. Edit: see my post a few posts down (summary didn't work)

He is so out of touch with reality he thinks the video of Vic at that panel crying and apologizing if his hugs ever made anyone uncomfortable is video proof of him admitting to sexual deviancy. Ron is an idiot.

Also a couple days ago someone here (sorry, not digging to find who) mentioned Vic drinking and how a number of the Vic Stories involve him being drunk, while his diehard fans claim he doesn't drink. There's this video from last year where at the 33:18 mark he says how he does drink but only in moderation and claims he's never been drunk in his entire life. He specifically mentions the people who spread those rumors (among others) online.

Of course he's an actor, thanks for the heads up Sabat, but he sounds pretty sincere to me. Interestingly he says his distaste for drunkenness was "imparted to me when I was very little" which makes me wonder if this is related to his deadbeat dad who he's described in another video as "miserable and made me and my mom's life miserable". Another thing is his ex Michele posted a while back about having her sobriety anniversary and the timeline suggested she sobered up while with Vic.

So when are we going to get the hit pieces calling Vic an alcoholic and then later Vic in court saying that he likes beer?

Some people sub to CR or what have you out of a sense of moral responsibility, but still others hit up bittorrent. However, a lot of the "fansub" groups literally just rip CR subs and insert them into higher quality raws, so...
I miss the old days of fansubs, they might've been no better (or worse) than CR (and Horrible Subs which are just CR rips) but the shit some sub groups would put in their shows was hilarious and reading the drama and shitposts about it was always a highlight. Now that only happens for shows CR doesn't sub and usually there's only like 1-2 groups at most who touch those shows.

Talking from the BattleTech side (Granted Macross Plus is probably the last good Macross), the last straw was the HG lawsuit against Harebrained Games due to the upcoming BattleTech game. Granted they were also going after Piranha Games (For using the Unseen) and Jordan Weismann aka the old owner of FASA when HG sued the last time. I get the last two but Harebrained was pulled in with some really crappy evidence.

The Mechs are the Atlas, Shadowhawk (Medium Hillhumper) and the Locust, which look nothing like their counterparts. Like it was just stupid to even try but HG is known for going after companies with Mechs who have pilots and guns so was not surprised.

Honestly i do miss some of this as the less ridiculous ones often gave some fun insight into Japanese culture or some further explanation to the scene/joke.

I knew IBS was a huge trainwreck (KIA et all have to deal with them swooping in and demanding we participate in their gay ops trolling bullshit every time they pick a new target) but yeah, apparently they've reached a new level. I can't seem to find the summary post however.

Edit: Wait, is it the one by pwincess fwuffypants on page 365?

The Harebrained suit was a stretch, but NONE of this would have happened if Weismann didn't totally botch the licensing of Miyatake's destroid designs (and the VF-1, which was Kawamori). The guys who actually designed the Unseen never saw a dime from Battletech/Mechwarrior sales. This is ALL FASA's fault.

But try to convince BT fans of that. Half of them think they would totally have valid rights to the Unseen if it weren't for that damn HG corporation. When Forbes interviewed Shouji Kawamori, and he straight up said that FASA got rights from a model manufacturer that didn't have the rights to sell (and how Kawamori wasn't happy with any of this being in Battletech), a lot of them went "lalalalalalalala... not listening." The moron who was writing about this for Sarna.net didn't do anybody any favors with his ignorance.

The whole thing is an autistic shitshow, and I'd rather forget it even exists, TBH. It's been debated to death.

The funny thing is, if the Macross rights issue outside Japan ever unfucks itself, and HG goes away, the BT people are gonna be in for a rude shock when Big West/Studio Nue tells them they can't use the Unseen either.

Uh Oh! Shane may be involved after all. New video is up

Oh boy.

I don't want to keep offtopicing this thread, but since my memory sucks and 'summary' didn't work here is a summary from @Wheelchair Number 8 appears to be very downplayed, but again see their threads for more info.
I might've missed/put something in a wrong order. It was quite a shitshow.
  1. Ralph shows off his magnificent GUNT, can't stand people making jokes about it and poking fun at him. Starts censoring callers/chat and ignores superberries. His numbers go down.
  2. Andy spergs out on everyone and CRP tells hims to calm his titties down. Andy goes apeshit, intewnet fwiendship is over, Zoom makes streams slandering CRP. And it's pretty hard to slander this shady creepy faggot.
  3. In retaliation CRP spills the story about Andy fucking fat tattooed chick who turns out to be pinecon girl, Andy breaks up with his gf.
  4. Ralph runs full damage control for his fwiend and doesn't want to talk about "useless" drama on stream. His numbers starts to tank even further. He comes here and spergs out on Null.
  5. Paypiggy Lord Akira makes joke superchat to Rakets about killstream being dead and Nick being his new nectar. Ralph can't handle it, "you decided to be kill". Soon after Akira's dox drops on cow. Granted, this faggot used the same handle for his facebook and doxing him was a matter of google search.
  6. Akira spills some tea about gunt using meth, his mom dying and him being depressed. He later drops some more, granted there is no proof to any of it so take it or leave it.
  7. Guntfather comes back to sperg some more. Later calms down and decides to take a few days break for his surely triumphant return.
  8. Tard & Gunt decide to do a pedohunting stream to let bunch of pedos DFE and potentially spooking fbi.
  9. Ralph goes on bunch of stream to sperg and try to damage control.
  10. Stream.me gets shoad due to aids. Apperently board can't handle cum tributes from cowboys
  11. Killstream TheRalphRetort moves back to youtube on @memology101 channel
  12. Ralph & Andy travel to Miami, sponsored by GoGuntMe. Dispatch streamsnipes their irl shit, does a few call ins. Guntfather is visible uncomfortable, Andy is just trying to have fun. Ralph eats some burgers out of trash can and bitches about hating himself.
  13. Andy doxes their hotel to cow but he was merely pretending to be exceptional and was working with Corey all along, Ralph is too scared of getting fucked with to stream.
  14. Apparently jceasar was drinking non-stop and ruining the fun for everyone involved. Girls have a fight live on air, drunken Ralph's spergs out and blocks Andy from leaving the hotel. Failure comes to rescue and our crying princess runs away.
  15. To be continued...
Man i hope more and more idiots have walked straight into lawsuit territory by being unable to simply shut up.

I would say it was more than a stretch considering the mechs look nothing alike, I mean the Locust has no arms. Didn't help that they dropped Harebrained early in the suit either. Yea I played BT back in the 90's (Prefer Pre clan table top and whatever for VG's) and I still don't get the hard on for the Unseen. But hey they settled out of court and won't probably know for sure the implications till MechWarrior 5 drops. I have a feeling they are allowed to keep what they did, just not allowed to add it to later properties.

Granted HG could have been trying to get some more capital with the suits for the Live action movie they wanted to do and get it done before 2021 just in case they lose the rights permanently. Granted they had 30+ years to make Robotech their own thing but really never did try to do that till maybe now.

I'm trying to find out, but when was Vic invited to Kameha Con? Vic might have also been uninvited to El Paso ComicCon (EPCC).

The dates were the same as Kamehacon (April 12-14), but EPCC announced Shannon McCormick and Jen Brown from RWBY as guests around November timeframe just before the shitstorm kicked off. Both are very vocal against Vic, and Jen might have been the one to fire Vic outright from RT.

What is interesting is they also announced Aaron Dismuke, who voiced Alphonse Eldrich in FMA (and Oscar in RWBY if it counts).

Given Vic's recent success as Broly, and history with both RWBY and FMA, it would be a no-brainer to invite him as a panelist since he was disinvited February 1st, but here we are.

Would this tie into Shane's claim that he and other organizers conspired to keep Vic out?

I just listened to Nick's little teaser video... And honestly, fuck him.

I'm going to be thinking about this tomorrow, waiting for that stream and going to sleep with an unfulfilled justice woody. Goddammit

When Vic is arrested for being a homophobic christian anti-simetic hugger, you’re all going to look mighty silly.

Looks like Soy filled out the form he was encouraging other to use.
:story: Is Soy Toye going to become Nick’s personal Melinda Scott?

Ron is fucking stupid. Nick just did a stream showing what happens when you file a complaint towards the Minnesota Bar at Rekieta for "harassment".
Literally said he didn’t watch it.

Guess I’ll sleep on this video and watch it as an appetizer for tomorrow’s stream.

Let me put it to you this way:

A-Kon's distancing themselves from Shane had a hell of a lot more to do with him just failing to update his linkedin profile and looking like a goof on Youtube. Vic wasn't even an announced as a guest at A-Kon for 2019, so they're probably not going to factor into this lawsuit. As Nick stated, there needs to be a contract before you can interfere with a contract. Otherwise, you're claim would concern business prospects.

But A-Kon is also smart enough to see the enormous stupidity of what Shane may have admitted to doing. That's a very old con (the oldest anime-specific con in the US) that understands Texas law more than just about any other con I can think of.

Couldn't it also possibly be some of the VA's talking to the organizers too, like "Hey Funimation dropped him because of this" type deal?

Sure, but the point is that they specifically distanced themselves from Shane when he overplayed his hand on Nick's stream. To me, that indicates that they don't want to be anywhere near Shane, and don't want any part of the conspiracy he himself has suggested. It's even possible that A-Kon was contacted about Vic. A-Kon made contact with Nick directly at one point. That was before they made that Twitter post.

I ain't saying they're one of the "little birdies," but they could be based on the fact they've volunteered info to Nick before. It would be huge if they are. There is a lot of inter-con chatter that could yield some juicy morsels.
