Some of it is just being trendy/signaling to your in-group that you're one of them. Some of it is a cultural straw man, or perhaps a weak man.

It's hard to seriously take the hashtag #killallwhitemen seriously. It's another type of cultural shibboleth. They don't literally believe in this sort of genocide (outside of the cozy hugbox of their Twitter feed, at least).

I can be more charitable. They don't hate white men, they hate White Men. White Men is a category I made up that includes only white men who complain about uppity women and black people.

No, wait! I can be even more charitable! A white man is only a White Man if their complaints about misandry and reverse racism come from a sense of entitlement. Which I get to decide after listening to them for two seconds. And If they don’t realize that they’re doing something wrong, then they’re automatically a White Man.

I could write a blog to explaining how White Men, when they’re complaining about their difficulties with affirmative action or asking why women won't date them, is really just code about how they want to steal from black people and treat women as disposable sex objects. And I’m not being unfair at all! Right? Because of my new definition! I know everyone I’m talking to can hear those Capital Letters. And there’s no chance whatsoever anyone will accidentally misclassify any particular white man as a White Man. That’s crazy talk! I’m sure the “make fun of White Men” community will be diligently self-policing against that sort of thing. Because if anyone is known for their rigorous application of epistemic charity, it is the make-fun-of-White-Men community!

Reminds me of that Huff Post article with an insecure Asian girl who got divorced from an Asian dude after dating white guys her whole life and then looped back around to being engaged to a white dude. At what point is it just as wrong for Asian girls to fetishize white guys, which they especially do in actual Asian countries, as it is for white guys to fetishize Asian girls? In the same way that I wouldn't want to date a dude with stupid levels of yellow fever as an Asian girl, I'm not sure why these dumbass white dudes are staying with clearly insecure Asian girls who don't like themselves for preferring white dudes and don't like white dudes overall. At least Asian girls who unashamedly like white dudes aren't so insecure.

The big danger of putting up a divider and lumping in all white men together for attacks and ridicule is that eventually, those men are forced into a tight group adhesion and eventually fight back. The reactionary snapback of a ton of white guys all united in the need to defend themselves against the SJW threat will be brutal. You want 'safe spaces'? Try the kitchen and your ghettos, because thats the only safe place to put insane rabid dogs - that or the grave.

The thread about Peppa Pig over in A&H reminded me of an SJW of my former acquaintance. She told this story with, and to, much laughter the last time we met:

Of course, she went straight back to work after giving birth, so she farmed out her baby to a nanny. Did she check the nanny's immigration status? Ugh, she's not a racist, you know. Undocumented-Americans are just as good at taking care of children as anyone else.

Two years and more passed, made up of long hours at that terribly important work. She and her husband never saw their child awake, but that was all right; they were tired after sixteen-hour days doing Important Things, and Baby was obviously in good health. Finally, when the stars aligned, she found Baby awake and playing, and asked what she was playing.

Baby stared at her blankly. And then spoke to her in Spanish. Baby didn't speak or understand a word of English, just like her mother didn't speak or understand a word of Spanish.

Mamacita said this was hilarious and wonderful. She bragged about it to us, though it was obvious it bothered her. But you're not allowed to let things like that bother you when Progress is happening, especially not when your child is now The Future. I'm still torn between pity for her because of her mandatory self-hatred, and contempt for someone willing to downplay her child's future struggles in order to prove she's a Good Progressive.

Bullshit like this is why we have a mental illness problem in the US. We care way the hell too much about what random people on social media think of us, even to the point where our own family members are becoming strangers to us.

Correction: this kid's mother tongue is Spanish, as this kid was only spoken to in Spanish, according to the given info. English would be an acquired second language in this case. If a kid is younger than 5, there's still time to learn English to be at least native-like proficient bilingual. You can reach fluency in language later in life, but will still tend to reach out to your first language when experiencing overwhelming emotions.

And yeah, the language divide between children and parents is one of the most heart-breaking things ever. Which is why, on the reverse, immigrants, who try teaching their children only the language of the country they are living in, give up their familial ties in a way.

Hey, who's this we? I don't care what random internet idiots think. I mean obviously, have you seen the dumb fucking shit I say?

It reminds me a bit of when OCD became a popular subject in the 90s, and everyone had self diagnosed OCD because they liked things somewhat organized (It was better than calling them "anal"...). In effect, people cultivated OCD symptoms. Right now we have a lot of people cultivating narcissism because that's what's big in pop culture. It's just another stupid trend.

But mental illness problems have existed long before the internet, so I'm not sure what you mean about having "a mental illness problem in the US".

Much like the worst kind of unironic /pol/ dipshittery, deliberately acting like idiots has attracted actual idiots who think they're in good company, and the natives haven't bothered correcting them. Like it or not, if you ironically spout shit like this, you're going to be taken at face value. It's not like anyone says ha ha, just kidding when called out on it either.
