Vic Mignogna fired from Funimation & RoosterTeeth over accusations of sexual harassment

I want to believe that the accusations against Vic is untrue, a friend of mine met him personally at a convention and she said that he was the sweetest guy you can ever meet.

But at the same time, Anime Outsiders and all the other defenders for Vic somehow manage to come across as similarly annoying. And it's not like some of them don't have skeletons in their closets either, like AO's ongoing bitchfit with Tara Strong or doxing people out of spite.

When it comes to Anime Outsiders, they often try their damnest to defend Vic and it's like watching a Michael Jackson fan trying to convince everyone that Michael wasn't a little bit creepy. To be honest, it's pretty fucking hilarious and cringe material at the some time. They are just hyping any fucking retard on the #istandwithvic defense squad. Literally anyone.

I did listen to their most recent podcast and my god, the anecdotes about some other VAs are exceptional like Sean Schemmel crying over Trump's election and being hilariously petty about wanting everyone to know that he's Goku and even managed to get his Ocean dub counterpart booted from a con over it.

So I have no idea how I actually feel about this.
There's no real evidence but tonnes of accusations.

It seems possible that this happened and that he's a piece of shit.
It's also very possible that people who already didn't like him are just jumping on a band wagon.

There's literally no way of making a judgement on this.

The thread here I linked is back in 2016 so we must have hopped in our delorians to get on that bandwagon.

This is a key reason why you should separate art from the artist.

Dub actors who only work for Funimation are crazy, like this may just be anecdotes but the fact that DC Douglas (who created shitty Trump webtoons) is actually a really nice person outside of political shit really says something about the Funimation Dub VAs who are flinging mud at each other.

Wasn't talking about you or anyone in this thread but that post is pretty autistic.

I was talking about all the people who suddenly have stories they never told anyone about until now.
Meh, us gossipy bitches are gonna wait until it's a subject because otherwise it's boring to just bring it up out of nowhere, makes you look like you got a vendetta instead of just being a gossipy bitch.

This has been happening for well over a decade and I'm glad that this is the only good outcome from the #metoo movement.
I remember watching the DNangel dvds with my friends and having to switch from dubbed to subbed because Vic plays Dark.

This just screams Brett Kavanaugh but with anime voice actors. Fuck off, wokefags.

Except it's not at all like Kavanaugh.

This is more like a Kevin Spacey or Bill Cosby situation if anything, lol. There have been "Vic Mignogna being creepy" stories floating around FOR YEARS. To me, all of this comes across as "everyone knew, but waited until now to actually do anything about it."

This has been a long-time coming, considering how long accusations about this guy have been floating around. Just Google him and you can find shit from nearly 10 years ago where people same the same shit we're hearing now. None of them have been too substantial or have been validated with hard evidence and, ironically, the guy's fans pushed back hard against them at the time.

But considering the climate, I figured a mob would come for him sooner or later. The question is, should I support the outrage mobs trying to deperson a guy with little to no evidence for their own personal gain, or do I defend good 'ol creepy Vic Mangina?...

Maybe I'll just sit this one out entirely, actually.

Those guys would probably end up with a thread on this site if they could actually keep an account alive for long enough.

I'm surprised that no one has done a thread on Cody. The guy can be a decent person but honestly speaking, it's a bit creepy on how he's so against this. Normally, he would jump up on Vic because it's actually connecting to a lot of other voice actors but he's very certain it's all about Vic's christanity and all because of those damn yaoi girls. I mean some of them maybe but if you look at the live journal link that @Iron Tarkus put in, you can clearly see that Vic has been creepy from more than one occasion. But sure Cody! It's all because of those damn sjws and their *checks notes* hate for christians.

Based on my extremely limited interactions with her in weeby places Jessie Pridemore doesn't seem like the most reliable narrator in the world (kinda comes off as your typical hysterical self righteous SJW type), however I believe 100% that Vic is a creep. Stories about him creeping on underage girls have been floating around for 15+ years, long before #metoo. Not to mention all the stories about his douchey and fundie behavior. It's to the point that if you've been going to cons long enough, you've probably heard or been involved in at least one Vic horror story.

Con staff in particular tend to despise him because he treats them like shit, and some cons even refused to invite him for that reason years before this story broke.

I'm about to go to bed but if anyone wants I'll try to type up the various Vic stories I've heard over the years, some are pretty wild.

OP's article doesn't mention that he was fired. it's just a detailed account of the alleged behavior from the victims. he wasn't fired until days ago and the shitstorm is detailed much better elsewhere, like in this article, which details the firing, the PR response from funimation, and has screenshots of tweets of pics of fans with vic being creepy i guess.

i think this only works for certain industries. i feel like attending cons is part of the job for voice actors, so they will naturally have a ton of time to interact with fans, say/do dumb shit, and flex their minor celebrity status, perhaps in inappropriate ways. in this way, it's much tougher to separate his public persona from his professional work.

This looks like the beginning of a shitstorm, a big one.

the biggest blow Vic may get is if he loses Broly. He has been voicing him for about 15 years and never really took a break from him since he constantly shows up in the video games due to his popularity.Broly's Super version is coming soon to FighterZ,and since the DLC characters in that game don't have extensive dialogue to record, they probably still have time to replace him if they deem necessary.
