If a religiously-motivated piece of legislation is bad legislation, it's bad whether or not it's religiously-motivated, and can be fought on the grounds of being bad legislation. If a religiously-motivated piece of legislation is good legislation, it's good whether it's religiously-motivated or not and can be championed on the grounds of being good legislation.
So worrying about whether religion is dictating the course of the country is pointless. Don't give a fuck if the legislation is religious, give a fuck whether it's good or bad legislation.
I'm refering to the self-licking icecream cone of laws upholding religious tenants not secular ones, and defining them as "good" because they do that.
