As Trump continues to wrap up win after win, seemingly in spite of the roadblocks thrown in his way, and as they lose electorally, over and over again, they only grow more desperate and prone to impotently lashing out, and the first people they're going to turn on after they blame everyone but themselves is the malcontents in their own midsts. They'll ultimately destroy themselves, most likely furnishing threads here in the process.

As I recall, the Scalise incident was perpetrated by a quite recently "reformed" Republican, very much an outlier. Even at their loudest and most toxic, the vast majority of the twats in this thread are far too passive-aggressive to follow through on anything so direct as engaging someone face-to-face without at least half a dozen droogies to provide backup by helping to shout the wrongthinker down should they fail to be instantly converted (or, heaven forfend, attempt to mount a counterargument); they'd be more likely to sprout wings and fly away than follow through on any such coordinated acts of violence.

And to understand why, you have to understand the extremist left.

First of all, they're not numerous. The media talks them up but they have never been a majority, will never be a majority, and have no mandate. They don't have the sort of influence they like to pretend to have, and while I could give you dozens of metrics of why this is, the TL;DR is that they're the loudest shreds of a very tiny minority and the only reason they have any dominance on any platform is because they've been allowed to wield some sort of dictatorial authority over that platform. They can't win a fight in the arena of free ideas and they fucking know it, so they try to avoid doing so at all costs. This is also why you'll never, in a thousand years, ever see one of them agree to a debate.

Second, the militant arm of the extremist left is hilariously cowardly and almost comedically inept. These alleged freedom fighters are soft, weak, and stupid, even by the staggering standards of the fucking mouth-breathing extremists we made fun of in the 80s and 90s (like the Operation Rescue crowd). There's a reason that Moldylocks and Cuck Norris are memes. While ANTIFA are quite literally a group of racist, antisemitic thugs, and rely on Black Block tactics to make them seem more imposing, they can really only effectively operate in areas where they have pre-existing support from a government that shields them from backlash (which is why they tend to operate in say.... Berkeley and not in an area where the police will actually do their fucking job). When one of them does attempt to go on lone nut duty, as happened during the election, they are staggeringly incompetent and often believe they will have zero difficulty charging directly after say, the fucking president when he's live on stage in front of thousands of cameras and a devoted secret service presence.

Unlike the majority of right-wing extremists from the 90s (who tended to have militia or military/law enforcement backgrounds), the leftists traditionally have little field training, minimal experience that's relevant in an actual conflict, and more often than not, tend to not be able to keep their fucking mouths shut. This is important since no matter what the media tries to frame about the extreme left, Law Enforcement knows full well who and what they are - and, after Islamic fundamentalism, the single most common source of terrorism in the fucking world is Communism.

While there's certainly a possibility that a few nutters will go off the reservation, the bulk of the extremist left doesn't have the ability to manage an actual fight, and in going against Trump, they're legitimately going against the bulk of the American public. No amount of spin can save them in such a scenario.
 
They can be dangerous in numbers, when advantaged with weapons, and when attacking from behind. Simply avoid situations where they can do these things and you should be all right.
