Yes, obviously the girls were too weak for vaccines it’s why Gwen’s insistence on taking them out as props all the time was so weird for such a concerned mother who couldn’t even give the girls Tylenol.

Thanks to woo shit heads like Gwen herd immunity is far from being a safe bet now. Lola getting chicken pox, when she doesn’t attend school or even have the ability to interact with anyone, is a good example of “how the fuck did that happen?” All the PT and Eagle Eye therapists Gwen wasted money on probably caused far more damage by bringing in germs than any benefit (which was none).

Even worse is that she hauls them around in public all the goddamn time for attention. Between parks (with germy water fountains they have Lola root from), restaurants, basketball games, movie theaters, Santa Claus visits, carousal rides and whatever else I'm surprised one of them didn't die sooner from complications due to pneumonia caused by a cold or flu. I'll be impressed if Lola lives long enough to die of her condition like Claire did.

I’ve read this whole thread and while Gwen’s not a good person by any means, I almost kind of feel bad for her in the way I feel for a ‘tragic villain’ in a movie. I don’t think she ever pimped out the girls for solely selfish means, and she did love them in an incredibly misguided way that grew to be selfish. She forced herself to live a delusion she’s hinted to know she’s living because she’s too afraid to admit she’s made mistakes or genuinely hurt her children. If Claire and Lola were born normal girls, she’d be a completely unremarkable hippie mom.

So the way I feel about Gwen is like Thanos basically. She’s crazy and a bad person but I kinda get her motivations, you know?

Oh I understand her motivation to find meaning in difficult circumstances, but it was her insistence at this particular “perfect” narrative that was so bizarre and probably not great for her or her family. It’s like she had already envisioned what her daughters were going to be like and having potatoes wasn’t going to stop that train.

She tried to let off steam with her little bad mommy “snow fucking white” and dirty poop stories but in a safe way.

Gwen seemed to have a very clear idea of how her life should be and wasn’t going to let a little thing like microcephalic daughters ruin it.

I keep seeing people say they are surprised Claire passed away first but that bowling alley video from several months ago made it very clear Claire was terribly ill . I assumed she had latent hepatitis or her liver and pancreas were shot .

She was a waxy sallowed yellow, her eyelids were relaxed to a nearly closed position and she was not reacting to anything with her wide eyed stare . Claire just looked worn out and tired for someone at rest 24/7 . This was also when that asshole Scott used her legs to push the ball down a metal ramp as Gwen cackled in the background. Claire would react to cold things in the past yet her legs touching metal didn't do anything but make her try to open her eyes. The poor girl was beyond ill and those sick bastards took her bowling.

As an aside I don't see Cal getting treated any better now , in fact I think Gwen is going to make his life hell because he is healthy and living. Even though Claire was the typical forgotten middle child Gwen loved to exploit her being sick by comparisons to Cal's milestones and now Cal will never cease to hear shit about being healthy and will get guilt trips for getting to live and enjoy that . He isn't ever going to be ok imo unless Gwen dies or he divorces himself from her toxic world .

I do wonder what Gwen was like pre-gremlins, or even pre-Cal. I don't think she was ever a pleasant person really, but she was able to function enough to have friends and find a husband. I think Claire broke her in a way, all her assholish narcissim ramped up to 11 and she started indulging in delusions and denial a lot.

It'd be nice if someone from her past would show up to spill the deets, but since it hasn't happened yet it probably never will. I've been trying to come up exactly what the behavior Gwen displayed was and have been reading what others suggested as well...was it a side Freak Show thing? Was it because she was a crazy Christian? Was she using them selfishly to just bring more attention to herself?

I think this theory is the closest with a side of vanity. She wants to live in her delusion that her family is perfectly normal which supports her dressing them up and taking them out to bowl even when they're sick and obviously hate every minute of it. It's all things a good parent would do, but not a good thing of a parent with a special needs child to do.

Idk even know if “normal” was what Gwen wanted, because she has definite snowflake leanings but the girls not being typical pretty little girls was something that really bothered Gwen no matter how hard she tried to pretend otherwise. She made a number of comments that showed such thoughts at various times, including that “at least Claire was cute” when she was a baby.

I think a large part of it can be chalked up to Gwen being very big on the superficial and appearances so having the girls really fucked with her worldview. I mean the constant photo-shopping, filtering and group photos are so over the top. She had so many styled photo shoots of the girls and family. I think she got a lot of free hair styling, photos, etc.. by using the pity factor and I’ll promote you on my social media angle. (We saw that when she complained about even paying the seamstress for material costs for her Star Wars Halloween extravaganza)

I did find it hilarious that I had no clue Gwen is quite the short chunky monkey because she expertly hides it in photos. A random candid shot showing her full body shocked me.

The fact that these children can't take typical seizure medications is heartbreaking. This case is especially sad because the child looks mostly normal and there was probably no way they would have known this in vitro to choose to end the pregnancy or not. The problem with ASD is that the major damage is present since birth, not shortly after like with PKU.
