Gently providing a prognosis that doesn't give a family false hope in a professional manner? Fuck you for making us worry. We sure proved you wrong by keeping her alive for 17 years without pain management medication and rubbing highly scented essential oils on her body so if she had a sense of smell she was constantly experiencing a sensory overload that might have caused her harm but we'll never know. We sure showed you, medical professional!

Re: Juliana Wetmore; IMO the Wetmores have a leg up on the Hartleys. True, they tend(ed) to parade Juliana around online as inspiration porn. But when Juliana was born and they learned they carried the genes for Treacher-Collins, they stopped having biological children and went with adoption. The Hartleys knew they ran the risk of having more children like Claire, rolled the genetic dice anyway, had the gall to be shocked that they had another disabled baby, and chose to cast the blame onto another one of their kids.

I havnt really ever heard of mommybloggers until my curiousity clicked on the flashing text at the top of the farms. Ive read some dark shit on here but this horror cow is really something else. The smiles she makes when holding those two (now one) husks of humans becomes more and more sinister everytime i look at it.
Do you guys think she really is ignorant to the reality that these husks actually may be trapped in an unmoving unfeeling body OR is she just sick?
I just dont understand how she willingly let another one of these husks into the world fully knowing what they will do to the people around them. She and her husband are truly exceptional.

That boastful letter to the doctor only adds to the horror implicit to these poor kids' lives. She's bragging about only giving her children "natural remedies" for their "seizures and [muscle?] tone."
I wonder if not providing basic medical care for her children's DEGENERATIVE disorders hastened their descent into fully-braindead goblinhood. Even a perfectly normal child can turn into a drooling zombie if subjected to constant seizures without any medical intervention.
As I said earlier, it seems that Lola was born without the capacity to feel pain, meaning that her mother can parade her shriveled living corpse around for however many years she has left without anyone needing to worry about an actual human being suffering. Yet I still feel repulsed by the thought of this kid continuing her half-life, contorting more and more by the day, so wracked with seizures that she would have no chance at consciousness even if she had a brain which could sustain it.
Lola has no (ability to control her) mouth and she must scream.

Gwen definitely suffers from narcissistic personality disorder, and maybe munchausen. She knows what is going on, yet those sweet asspats and being a 'miracle mom™' are just too good that she would rather play dressing with two potatoes

Her kids were born drooling goblins with very little brain so “descent” is really relative. The only thing Gwen’s woo bullshit diD was ensure that they were in more discomfort, to any extent they could feel it, than was necessary.
Gwen definitely chose quantity (years) over quality of life for the girls.
Will be interesting to see how things change now that there is only one hooligan.
Lola is way more portable than poor Claire. We might see some road trips so Lola can be living her best life, like a microcephalic garden gnome that shows up all kinds of places for photo-ops in front of famous landmarks.

I feel sorry for Cal here—Claire was his first little sister, and while she wasn’t a normal little kid, she was cute and at least he could manage to deal with the situation and carry on. But when Gwen deliberately had Lola—the whole world turned to shit.

Honestly idk why Claire biting it first surprised me like it did, but damn. Not only do they still have one left but it's the monstrous one. Maybe some part of Gwen is relieved, she's always put Lola on a higher pedestal that her sister.

This is pretty common sadly. You can blame the internet for boiling down emotions to a few variations of a smiley face. I'm sure Harvey Ball is rolling in his grave.
I've seen Youtube thumbnails about death in the family and other serious matters with the dumb crying smiley plastered on it. What the hell is wrong with people? Do they think something like "You can't tell this is sad unless I use the sad emoji"? We've boiled down emotions to a set of stupid, cartoony icons. I hate this era. I really do.
I'm convinced Lola is just a shell. She just has better reflexes and can eat and bleat.
At least Claire won't have to live with twisted limbs, constant seizing and permanently clenched muscles anymore.
Well Gwen loved pushing the narrative that her gremlins were just like normal children. Sassy teens. But these weren't mild to moderately affected downies capable of still enjoying life. They always were and always will be dyed in the wool potatoes. Claire had absolutely no quality of life whatsoever. It's not a miracle that she made it to 17. It was a curse. A curse that's finally over. Hopefully the next life, wherever and whatever it is, will be much better.

She said it in a tone that suggested that people were unreasonable to have those feelings. Meanwhile anyone with any sense was thinking "Yes, exactly, let's get rid of as many mosquitoes as possible so that zika doesnt spread, so that no one has to have a drooling, nearly brainless goblin to deal with for years and years!"
At best, I've seen a few tiny indications that she might have had some basic awareness of her environment.That guy Chris from Special Books for Special Kids interviewed the Hartleys a while back and while he was holding the girls, Claire was wide eyed(even more so than usual) and she was angling her body as far from him as she could. When her family members were holding her, she was in a more relaxed position and had her eyes closed. So there was a difference in her reactions based on who she was with. Also when one of her therapists put some clay on her hands to play with, she appeared to be trying to push it away. A few other things like that that showed a shallow awareness, but nothing that indicated any higher functioning or any real attempts to really interact with her world.
Lola...all she ever did was root and bleat.
Lola had/has the rooting reflex. Sometimes Clair would open her mouth in a gaping fashion like a fish out of water, but she didn't actually root. Lola was the one who would start rooting whenever anything touched her mouth or face.
I was just watching her and Scott's Nightline interview where she expressed disapproval at the media and the medical community for their response to the Zika virus. She demonstrated by saying in a sarcastic voice, "Let's spray the whole country with pesticides, so that nobody gets bit by mosquitoes, so nobody has to have a kid like THAT."

Those snotty letters to the doctor was one of the things that made me hate Gwen the most. He was the first doctor that gave her any real answers and most of his answers were correct btw. And if you search for Dr Dobyns, you'll see that he's one of the most respected doctors and researchers in his field, yet Gwen acts like he's some ametuer and that she knows so much more than him. Even some of her supporters tried to tell her how wrong that was, but she always thinks she's right, so the letters continued.
I always thought of parents like Gwen and Jaxon Buell's parents as having something like "reverse munchausen" where instead of making their healthy kids sick, they insisted that their extremely sick and disabled kids were healthier and more able than they really were.
Unfortunately, I think that's her name for the entire family...as if to say "We're just a bunch of wild and crazy Hooligans...haha..look what a great attitude I have, see how self deprecating I am...notice how I laugh in the face of adversity...dont ya just love me?!"
I think he goes to a Jesus college nearby, so he makes frequent trips home.

That's what did it for me, it was a snotty "I know better than you Mr. Smartdoctorman" thing - it really grates my nerves when people have that attitude (see the anti-vaxxer community). That baby didn't get a miracle, she was tortured for 17 years while her mother bragged about how great their life is and fed off the attention their condition brought her. As far as consciousness, I tend to think they're "in there," captive in those twisted bodies and it's a horrible existence, much easier to think of them as potatoes or goblins but reality is often far more tragic and unpalatable.
