Well yeah, but outside of just Growly.
Someone in another thread (I think?) mentioned something about MMF not banning pedos and it's like...yeah they could put it in the rules, but do you really expect them to screen 10k+ attendees?
Though putting pressure on furcons over convinced folks serving as staff could work.

Looking at videos of his "speech", he said "I'm gay, black and a furry, so I'm everything Republicans hate". Just felt the need to make everything political because people like him can't go a minute without going political.

Half the furfags I see tout him like he’s a hero. He’s just a very good video game player and a furry who’s at times mildly obnoxious. People need to stop acting like he’s an entity to be idolized or demonized.

Like, I've hated the fandom since I made friends there a decade ago, and moderately joining myself. I know it's a shameful thing to partake in, and even more so to force onto people with your animal avatar in games and "gamerfox23" tags.
What I hate more than the fandom's existence in itself is those legitimately pushing for it to be accepted by the public. It doesn't need to, it's a hobby/kink, but they push oh so hard. And what do we get? A top-3-world FGC professional able to make somewhat of a difference; drop the suit now that people know him, be representable. Be Ninja.
Every single post on his name right now on Twitter is "Haha look how based he is, not wrapping up when told to, mentioning gay rights! What a hero!". What'd people come for? Awards, music, reveals, a drink. He stuck out like a sore thumb, and not even because of his suit.
Such a useless pursuit to be legitimized by mainstream media and even then he shoots everyone in the footpaw. Oh, and I just looked up his Twitter for the first time in years. What do I see? IMGAYLOLBTWBIGBLACKDICKGAYMEHOMO

I know I’m just tired rn and that this applies to more than just furries, but I long for the day when being not straight isn’t a big deal anymore so I don’t have to hear people yammer on about how gay they are.

The like/dislike bar is pretty even right now with a whole lot of dislikes and likes at only 25k views. The "pinned" comment is asking "why is everyone hating."
Quite a few comments focus on that line:
By branding himself politically he's also opened himself up for attention from the remnants of GamerGate over at /r/KotakuInAction. Over there, they see him as an attention whore, wearing his kink everywhere as he politically panders. A general discussion thread on TGA focused mostly on SonicFoxes fursuit and mannerisms, and I've noticed the same with a lot of people watching TGA this year.

People, the furry fandom is political now, don't you understand?
I applaud the guy for triggering so many people with his softball insult. So many other reasons to be mad in gaming these days, and yet this was the final straw? Really?
When did we start giving a shit about the Doritos Pope Awards? It's a commercial-ridden wankfest anyways. Just look up who won the awards after the broadcast to avoid giving them ad-revenue like any other sane person with a life.

What's funny is that being a furry, black, or gay, probably doesn't bother conservatives. Being a smug fucking cunt does.
I'm hardly right leaning in a lot of ways and I hate politics, especially people who treat it as a way to lord over the "stupid".
That being said, him being a furry, black, gay, and a "gamer" is like, four times the exceptionalism at once so being a smug fucker comes naturally.
Though I wonder. How many furries will be up in arms about him being political about being a furry?

I follow a few of the furry lolcows on my Twitter account. Pretty much the only people you'd think would be mad are the ones that are mad. Otherwise the rest of the community is fawning over him, as are most games media personalities and sites that covered the event.
They don't see the typical furry political statement, they see a guy so happy he won an award stumble over his acceptance speech, and it's endearing to them.

Let's actually be real about what happened here for a second:
The dude gave a two minute speech that was largely positive, about how he just does this for fun and donated money to someone's dying dad, and at the end, he essentially makes a quick joke that he's everything Republicans hate. Cue everyone getting buttmad because of this comment, and talking as if this was a five minute speech decrying conservatives and talking about how everyone needs gender reassignment surgery or something absurd like that.
The truth is, if an off-hand joke is enough to trigger someone into hysterics: Maybe the lolcow is you.
