I saw a screenshot on twitter purportedly showing someone messaging Bronycon staff saying Chris is acting up. But its from that psychopath with 50 twitter accounts attacking Chris. So it could be him just causing shit. Either way, it sounds like people are looking after Chris so that should get him through the weekend.
But it kind of proves the point. Chris needs someone(s) around at these types of things to keep him on the straight and narrow, and more importantly keeping other crazies from fucking with him.

Supposedly the people following him and keeping people away are doing it BECAUSE of the /mlp/ channer threats.
They've been spam-calling con staff with bogus complaints about Chris' behavior. The con staff appear to be aware that this is a channer raid, so nothing is going down yet. The crowd following Chris have volunteered to stick near him so they can be witnesses that nothing happened or will happen.
Chris is really stressed about it and they're keeping people away because they're afraid that some random troll attending could say something to Chris and trigger a panic attack or nervous breakdown.

So, this seems to be not only for Chris safety but also to make sure he doesn't act up. They put Chris in a special brony playpen. I've also read a few threads on brony forums where security has been warned about the threat he made and removed a while back.
