I'm not saying it didn't effect him or left a lasting impact on him. But as far as actually caring about it, the only thought he gives to it is bringing it up to elicit sympathy from others.

Forgiveness does not mean forgetting. Just the victim forgives the perpetrator does not mean what they've done should be forgotten.
