You don't understand the severity of this, Lynx. There's a grand number of Lego orders now hanging in limbo because of your inquiry. HE NEEDS TOYS! *sigh*

The big sale started on 9/9. So if ordered then, two weeks would be 9/23.

Idk if eBay would factor in his correspondence with the timeframe change or the fb posts.

Yeah.

This means Chris can make the argument that he couldn't fulfill the sale because the funds were frozen before the shipping deadline.

one last thing. Chris can't make this argument because he set it to FREE SHIPPING; the funds frozen are only the cost of the item. the cost of shipping was entirely down to Chris. if he had set a shipping cost, the shipping portion would not have been frozen.

He couldn't have defaulted as it's not the 26th yet.

He states clearly that he is not going to send the thing until the 1st. Agree that if he sent it before the 26th, he would have a chance of winning the dispute, but he's scuttled that possibility.

People who sell stuff for a living on eBay have to scramble to fix things for their buyers all the time, because the dispute system is stacked in the buyer's favor.

He gets free money from the government monthly. If he doesn't have the bare minimum in his PayPal to cover for these things, forgive me if I'm unsympathetic. Like always, Chris makes disaster very easy, and when it happens, he goes into meltdown.

Exactly. All he had to do is set aside money to ship the merchandise instead of getting his taint pierced, buying legos, supporting the gays, and buying a fucking car.

lynx, I would hate to see the fount of hilarity that is Chris's eBay account be cut down, but you shouldn't have to risk money on the deal. I'd be happy to refund you the cost of the medallion if you withdraw the complaint.

Holdek, disagree all you want, but that's how the eBay dispute resolution system works. Chris would never win this dispute, whether or not he "should" in the abstract.

I don't get it... If I buy something from Chris so he can afford to ship other peoples orders, then were is the money to ship my order going to come from?

Is it a two-for-one deal? Buy two items, get one shipped?

I really don't give a shit who wins this dispute either way, but this is the funniest fucking thing I have read all week. Oh Chris, you never fail to amuse me.

You pay Chris for a service. Chris uses the money for toys. You give him more money to cover the cost of the toys so that he can provide the service. It's not difficult. Bare in mind though that Chris will probably use the second payment for toys too.

Usually when someone says something is "NOT A SCAM" it has the opposite effect. Like when they tell me they're straight and reiterate how much they love the female genitalia and how they stare at a poster to make sure they're straight.

Why do they even need cars? Can't they use public transportation? Or would that be beneath them?
There's no public transportation in Ruckersville, or in most of rural America. Barb might be able to get rides in some kind of senior citizens' van at most.

Edited to add: Yep, the county has a van. Barb would never go for that, though, because she's got to hoard be independent.

Seriously, this.
But is there any time that Barb goes out unassisted? I assume that Chris handles all driving duties. So I'm a little unclear on two cars.
I used to think she was ferried around by Chris most of the time, but maybe that's not actually the case. Or maybe Chris and Barb's discussions about how she doesn't like stick are all theoretical. The pair of them might just be acting together like she's still an independent adult, not having to be hauled around by donkey-brained Chris.

Also, yeah, nah, just on a person-to-person interaction with Chris, Holdek is right. The original agreement you made with Chris was plainly stated. Chris deserves up to the last minute in the original agreement to make up his side of the promise. I mean, if someone jumped the gun and reported something, it's not a big thing. It's not like I'm getting on their ass about it or anything.

And if (when) Chris does fail to keep up his end of the bargain, please do open up complaints on him. Don't let him rip you off.

I thought it was established that buying a better used car was cheaper than fixing the engine block of that thing

True.... but they had two perfectly drivable vehicles. So the van doesn't handle like a sports car, and Barb doesn't like the stick shift in the BMW. They could have made do until they were in a better financial position to buy a new car. If they priced the BMW more realistically, they could have sold it and put the proceeds towards a new car (no way they're going to sell the Caddy except for scrap).
