Perty much the later, there was some encouragement from others like Rika etc to chose portland initially but it was for a while considered the promised land, I have some old Phil stuff that isn't commonly known in the archive relating to this that I will have to dig out relating to it.

I think the Fish Stair into the window when he still had his Animu hair picture was taken on that initial trip (the one where he had on that off-white or possibly just dirty jumper).

Not really adding anything @Ravenor didn't say, but that part is still incomplete on the wiki. He travelled across with Tweaker, though, so he had help, possibly a lot of it. There were increasing problems with Rika before then.

I think the only reason he can handle what he does is that he has zero other responsibilities, so if it takes an entire day's effort to go to 1 tattoo appointment, he's got the time to build up the energy.
