I couldn't watch more than a couple minutes. It feels so incredibly perfunctory on Doug's part, even compared to his other content--like he doesn't really want to be there but feels he has to.

It's probably due in part to all the shit that's gone down. If he wants Channel Awesome to carry on it's facade of inclusivity, he needs to bring in new talent to replace the ones that jumped ship. Phantom Strider certainly needs Channel Awesome to get ahead, what with his piddling 350,000+ subscriber count.
Although that could just be the cynic in me talking. It could be Doug just collaberating with a content producer he enjoys, though after all those personal accounts we've seen, I highly doubt it.

Well this is a thing that just happened.
For the folks not in the know, Mandalore Gaming is a YouTube vidja reviewer that makes 20 minute ish videos on games while still working an office job, he has 115,000 subscribers, and is absolutely one of my favorite channels on YouTube. I hope this doesn't go south.
