You know, Linkara's probably one of the sadder members of TGWTG.
By all accounts he's remarkably personable IRL by TGWTG standards (which I acknowledge are standards so low they're next to fucking dinosaur bones), and he can also be fucking hilarious by TGWTG standards as well. I loved some of his running gags and the guy has genuinely good comedic timing. He's actually been able to openly acknowledge Lightbringer being absolutely shit in the past, which I can respect. As a writer, you have to fuck up before you can do well (something Brianna Wu never learned). Shame that his being able to handle himself like an adult didn't fucking last.
Good fucking god, Kiwis, the Hubris of this guy. Lighter shit like his "please let the ads play" whinging one could almost let slide, but Linkara never lets it end there, and his propensity to double down means that he has this enfuriating tendency to become absolutely insufferable at the absolute worst times. There's a lot of people who love his content, and with good reason - but Linkara manages to drive off fans, ironically, NOT by crossing the Vargas singularity (focusing on another type of content to the expense of the rest) or Spoony singularity (complete giggling contempt for your fucking audience), but from a good hearty dose of lack of self-awareness, which stings a lot, for his fans, because he heretofore usually has had that. He went from being pretty chill and one of the more enjoyable people on TGWTG to being absolutely insufferable.
And with him doubling down, a lot of classic Linkara's gradually been pared away, leaving us with the finicky douche Linkara - the one that constantly DMCA's his old content, even when it's done for archival purposes and by his fucking fans who enjoyed it, the one who instead of laughing at or lamenting his early fuck-ups like a normal person, DELETED FUCKING EVERYTHING, the one who has made no effort to re-upload his old content (even when other Channel Awesome contributors managed to do so), and who made the unfortunate mistake of Twitter sperging over other, far more important shit. Everything started to decline over time with him and as he got increasingly political, more and more people got driven off.
If you're an actual fan of his, watching this slow mutation over time hasn't been a fun experience. It's not quite as much of a complete die-off as say, Spoony's content was, or as much of a complete shit-show as Vargas' content is, but it's filled with the fact that from here on, he's willing to be just as much of an asshole as people he likes to bitch about, and nobody has time for that shit.
