Tax Reform Armageddon: WE RACE WAR NOW - Don't be a stupid nigger and debate the bill NO ONE CARES (crossthread posts welcome!)

I’m concerned about what this will do to people pursuing higher education using the GI Bill. It only covers 22k in tuition costs a year, most schools cost more than that and split the difference using endowments and the Yellow Ribbon Program. If schools have to restrict the number of veterans they can accept, it kinda makes getting the GI Bill pointless.

Wouldn't that just push most GI's into cheaper (technical and trade) schools rather than punching only for big universities?

It’s too bad technical and trade schools don’t have STEM degrees. I know that my friends who enlisted joined so they could attend a four year university debt free, and that it’s a common argument about not doing something about skyrocketing tuition. “Just enlist, then use the GI Bill.” It’s kinda shooting themselves in the foot, I bet a lot of smart people won’t enlist without education benefits.

Still 22k a year is still serious money though. That is on top of the money they earned, enlistment bonus, actual experience that will benefit them seeking employment post college or even during college. I still wish I had ignored my family and enlisted before running off to college.

Side note the obama care mandate is finally dead right? It was insulting enough to loose my plan, than the other options get too pricey so lazy fucks could get their insurance for free or greatly reduced than here comes uncle sam to take a decent chunk of my rebate.

The funniest thing to me is all the Democrats screeching about how it was passed, when ACA was passed exactly the same way. EXACTLY THE SAME WAY. Midnight vote even. Hell, they had to bribe certain senators just to get their votes, because they knew it was poison to them, and they wound up losing their seats anyway in the midterms.

I honestly wouldn’t put it past Trump to have told Republicans to pass something, anything, the Democrats would reject, the same way they passed ACA, just to rub their noses in it. I mean all it needed was Mitch McConnell saying they needed to pass it to find out what was in it for the maximum schadenfreude.

It’s okay money if you go to a low to mid tier school, and it’s barely worth the hoops the VA has you jump through. Either way, they promised a college degree at the end of it, and to slap on restrictions that’ll affect veterans already using their earned benefits seems counterintuitive. I hope that they can write in an exemption if the endowments are part of the Yellow Ribbon Project so that veterans can continue pursuing the best education they can.

I'm confused by this complaint. Obama added $6.5 big-Ts to the debt (which is $200B more than every president before him) in 8 years.

The vast majority of that was from reduced tax revenue coming in during the aftermath of a massive economic recession with a slow recovery. What he intentionally added from increased spending and tax cuts was much smaller.

This tax bill intentionally adds a lot to the debt.

The sixth large economy vs. The world's largest military. Who would win?

And a Jerry Brown healthcare plan? One which memory serves me rightly, is doling out services based on how much exercise you get and veggies you cram down your throat and how little fun in life you have?

The fat fucks that invariably and unironically make Drumpf tweets will be praying for Trumpcare.

Because a state that has some of the worst roads, schools, and almost a 1/3 of its population on welfare will totally be able to go at it alone and not become a 3rd world shithole.

California is that badly off??? Glad to hear NY is mostly conservative, then. Same with PA; outside of NYC and Philly, respectively, anyway (and I have family in Philly; they need to move outta there someday...).

Well most of California is also conservative, the problems stems from the fact that the coastal areas have so many people living there, the red counties of the interior and east get ignored. California's incredibly high taxes aren't so much a big problem for the coastal people, but are killer for the poor and working class of that state.

Looks like there’s a pinch of salt from flyover country itt tbh...
