Judging from the salt, this must be almost as serious as when Trump selfishly stole an extra scoop of ice cream from the taxpayers.

Trump is literally an authoritarian dictator now.

Can someone explain to me what the tax reform is even about?, what is getting everyone salty besides it being a Trump policy?
The jist of why rational people (mostly just kiwis at this point amazingly) are upset is the long term effects of the bill. Tax rates for those who make under 75K go down temporarily, but go up significantly by 2027. Those who make between 20-30K will see a 25% tax rate increase by 2027 (assuming this is not changed by a later administration, but given how long the old tax rules stood up, this is an unknown). This is all happening while those who make more then 75K will see a tax cut, as well as businesses. All of this is done while adding $1 trillion to the deficit.

There are also some curiously worded riders, such as a rider allowing 529 college saving plans to be assigned to unborn fetuses while not changing the 529 plan rules on saving dates (a 529 you can only start investing in once the child is born) which could be used to push more anti-abortion legislation through using this as a backbone (as there seems to be no legitimate purpose of assigning a 529 plan to fetuses if you cannot put anything in them until birth), it also includes tax deductions for those who attend religious universities while not changing the benefits for those who attend public college (this is still kinda up in the air because this bill is written so poorly and is half-baked IMO).

The irrational spergs look at the tax breaks and scream that the GOP is stealing all their money and this will somehow destroy america, because trump. Democrats hate it because, well, they didnt write it, and it also reduces the tax penalty for not getting insurance through the ACA to $0, which will somehow result in 13 million people loosing insurance (this is in another up-in-the-air rider added at the last minute).

Other spergs are super upset that you now cant deduct your mortgage interest on your taxes if your mortgage is over $500000, when it previously was $1 million. Such spergs either dont own a house are are just complaining, or IMO, if you can afford a 500k house you can afford taxes. This stands to hurt states like california a LOT, as these higher taxes could plummit housing prices, and therefor state taxes.

This is all from my interpretation of the bill thus far, I could be very wrong in some ways.

If hipster slacktivist SJWs don't want to be hurt by Pmurt's eeeeeeeeeevil tax plan, here's an idea:

Instead of whining and virtue signaling on twitter, maybe go and get a degree in a STEM or other in demand field (no one is forcing you to get a Masters in Women's Studies, Gender Theory or Community Organizing), move to an affordable area (no one is forcing you to pay 1600/month for a studio apartment so you can have the luxury of living in Williamsburg), get a high paying job even if it doesn't "fulfill your soul" (no one is forcing you to "work" at an unpaid internship advocating for Queer Syrian Refugees or whatever; there is dignity in being a nurse, working construction, etc.!) and buy affordable stuff (no one is forcing you to buy designer clothes, drink only local microbrewed beers and only eat cage-free, free range, cruelty free, organic eggs and frequent **** dining establishments weekly).

Is this the whole "You gotta pay 400 bux if you don't have insurance" thing?

Basically, the way the insurance exchanges "work" is that younger, healthier people are compelled to get insurance by means of being taxed if they don't. The influx of young, healthy people onto the insurance rolls is supposed to offset the cost of older, sicker people also getting insurance, thus reducing the revenue loss for insurance companies and thereby giving them a reason to offer plans to older, sicker people.

Supposedly, getting rid of the tax penalty will result in younger, healthier people saying "fuck it" and not getting insurance they don't need, which will cause insurance rates to spiral out of control for older sicker people that are still buying insurance, leading to them being unable to afford it, leading to them cancelling their policy. The result will be less young/healthy people AND less old/sick people in the exchanges, the combination of which will mean millions no longer having insurance.

Who knows if this will actually happen. The ACA is neoliberal lobbyist-approved trash.

Ostatnio edytowane:
I'm confused by this complaint. Obama added $6.5 big-Ts to the debt (which is $200B more than every president before him) in 8 years.

The problem is when people throw around arbitrary big numbers like that it's really hard to gauge what their actual impact will be, but it doesn't stop dummies from waving it around like it proves their point.

See, this shit is why I got confused. I'll make no claim to be a fan of systemically-fail systems like trickle-down economics or the like, but Obama's shit was infinitely fucking worse and substantially more riddled with kickbacks, which is a fucking accomplishment consider the five or so administrations that preceded him.

Yet the dude's apparently impervious to criticism. Fucking bizarre.

Do Twitter sjws even pay taxes? I was under the impression most of them live with their parents or collect benefits for sadbrains.

How does thi effect them?

The worst thing they've said during all this (to me at least) is that when someone wrote traditional cursive/doctor writing and they say it's just scribbles.

English is my 3rd language and I could read that without any issues. Do I really have a better grasp on the English language than United States senators?

SERIOUS TALK.....

Is THAT why healthcare insurance costs so much??? If so, THAT is why we need to make Medicare/Medicaid more widely available and accessible... It'll never happen fast enough, unfortunately, until we starting holding corporatoons accountable to BS they pull for fucking once.

So I've been reading up on the tax reform bill and ... I'm OK with this. Not happy that I'll be paying more in taxes, mind you, but the things everyone seems to be having a meltdown over are relatively minor changes in everyday lives.

Yeah, OK, illegal immigrants can't get tax benefits. Boo hoo, I give no fucks.
$500,000+ mortgage taxes are not deductible? Cry me a fucking river.
You actually have to use the right forms to take deductions instead of using a decades old loophole? Perish the thought!

Also, I have no idea how reducing the penalty for not having health insurance from $50 to $0 is going to result in the loss of lives and millions of people losing their health insurance.

Yes, it's oing to add 1 trillion in debt over the next 20 years. We're at 20 trillion already. Fuck it.
