That video is beyond horrifying. That poor thing is clearly living a tortured, horrible existence and -- if it is even capable of feeling pain -- must be in constant agony.

It truly makes you realize that Gwennie is doing all of this for her, and not the girls', sake.
 
If Cal was trying to get a nursing degree Gwen would have posted it all over. She loves posting Cal when he does something potato related and that is definitely potato related.

that stander is actually a significant improvement in her limb contraction; it's probably really good for her circulation and her skin to be stretched out sometimes. Lola is likely too contracted for that.

actual doctors would have them in these therapeutic positions more often than in costumes.

Lola can't have the personality of an 11 year old because in terms of brain development she's gestational.

Jaxon Strong has one of those stander things too. There's a video I saw on Youtube once where he's in it seizing like mad and the mom is claiming Jaxon is trying to undo the straps.

Now it does look like Claire is interacting with those objects. But maybe the photos were snapped while she was seizing with the optimal expression. I'm still on the fence over what kind of awareness she has. She seems to dislike Lola so maybe there's still something in there.

I don't think Claire interacts with objects or her sister. I think that Gwen takes enough pictures of each "event" so that a few look like Claire is looking at something. (Lola is too far gone to even try) And mom's fantasy is that the sisters fight like teens do, but what's really happening is Lola roots against anything that touches her mouth, so that explains the kissing or biting or whatever it's supposed to be. Claire can't sit up straight so slides away, or into her sister. She moves a bit but has no control. She'd do the same movements but next to anybody, including her dog. It all depends on what mom captures and shows.

The girls don't know each other exists, is my guess.

Remember too, that they have a degenerative condition. Even if Claire had some abilities a few years ago, I think they are gone now.

Sure would like an MRI to see though.

Yeah, when you first look at those pix, it seems like Claire is looking/interacting with it, but in reality if you look closer, it's more that she's having a spasm that Gwen captured at the right time. You can tell by the "fart" face she has.
Those sticks.... come on Gwen, she's not holding them. Claire has gotten worse, which is sad, she at least tasted brief pseudo sentience. I don't know why they bother shoving her contracted feet into shoes either.

Lola though... every time she's posed on something, there's that ubiquitous towel. You just know she's liquid shitting on everything 24/7.

The twisting is so bad. It reminds me of Rachel's sister Zelda in Pet Sematary. In the flashbacks Zelda is a disabled twisted goblin dying of spinal meningitis.

It looks like Lola's face really is developing and distorting badly like Claire's now. At least she doesn't have sentience so she can't feel self conscious about her deformities.

Does she ever give Claire any cutesy nicknames like she does with Lola? (I'm not even going to bother to ask about Cal)
 
Something about how emaciated Lola is, on top of everything else, really gets to me.

I really struggle with any living creature that can feel pain having this quality of life. Or quality of existence, if that is more appropriate.

I know there are no easy answers here, but there are profound ethical questions over the form, extent and nature of the interventions made to keep the girls alive.

I desperately hope that when it is time for them to pass, they are allowed to do so painlessly and with some dignity.
