If Curry isn't going to show up, I find it hard to believe anyone else would. He's the star of that team and if you show up that locker room is probably going to turn on you. If Trump reneged the entire team's invitation it's because he knows that and wants to save face. Ego is a big deal for him and having 3 or 4 players show up makes for a bad photo op.

I think both Thomas and Curry are lolcows for this. Meeting the president, even if you think he's a door knob, should be an honor. Not many people get to do that. I didn't mention that because I think it was a consequence of what happened. Thomas wasn't hurt, nor was he playing poorly when took that year off (which was that awful shortened season anyway). His relationship with management was dirt and given it happened the same year as the Obama meeting, I think they're related. The Bruins were already trying to push Rask as his replacement for a while, but Thomas kept on playing better than him. Maybe Thomas knew they wouldn't give him that opportunity that season and just planned on waiting it out for a trade. Which he got, to the Islanders, but by then it was almost March in a season no one cared about. So he floats to an awful Florida team.

His career trajectory was pretty crazy. Within 2 years he went from winning a Stanley Cup, Vezina and Conn Symthe to the Panthers.
