been spending the last couple of hours trying to minimize the amount of ram 1.12.2 minecraft uses. shockingly found that when set to a min and max of 1024mb of ram its actually stable w/ and w/o mods.

been using these java arguments: (i set 1024 min and max memory through prismmc, since it bitches otherwise.)

Kod:
-XX:+UnlockExperimentalVMOptions -XX:+UnlockDiagnosticVMOptions -XX:+AlwaysActAsServerClassMachine -XX:+ParallelRefProcEnabled -XX:+DisableExplicitGC -XX:+AlwaysPreTouch -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:+AggressiveOpts -XX:+UseFastAccessorMethods -XX:MaxInlineLevel=15 -XX:MaxVectorSize=32 -XX:+UseCompressedOops -XX:ThreadPriorityPolicy=1 -XX:+UseNUMA -XX:+UseDynamicNumberOfGCThreads -XX:NmethodSweepActivity=1 -XX:ReservedCodeCacheSize=350M -XX:-DontCompileHugeMethods -XX:MaxNodeLimit=240000 -XX:NodeLimitFudgeFactor=8000 -XX:+UseFPUForSpilling -Dgraal.CompilerConfiguration=community -XX:+UseG1GC -XX:MaxGCPauseMillis=37 -XX:+PerfDisableSharedMem -XX:G1HeapRegionSize=16M -XX:G1NewSizePercent=23 -XX:G1ReservePercent=20 -XX:SurvivorRatio=32 -XX:G1MixedGCCountTarget=3 -XX:G1HeapWastePercent=20 -XX:InitiatingHeapOccupancyPercent=10 -XX:G1RSetUpdatingPauseTimePercent=0 -XX:MaxTenuringThreshold=1 -XX:G1SATBBufferEnqueueingThresholdPercent=30 -XX:G1ConcMarkStepDurationMillis=5.0 -XX:G1ConcRSHotCardLimit=16 -XX:G1ConcRefinementServiceIntervalMillis=150 -XX:GCTimeRatio=99

running w/ over 80+ mods or so grants a surprisingly stable experience, barely using up even 1gb of memory. of course there are moments where it reaches that threshold, where the game will then lagspike and then bump back down to around 500-700mb being used. those moments happen when loading in new chunks, or at the very least when running around. when messing in my base it never occurred.

currently running w/ these mods:

Kod:
The Aether, Ambient Environment, AmbientSounds, AppleCore, AppleSkin, Attribute Fix, Bad Wither No Cookie! Reuploaded, Better Advancements, Better Biomes Blend, Better Combat, Better Ping Display, Better Than Mending, BetterFurnaces Reforged, Cherished Worlds, Clear Water, Clumps, Comforts, Common Sense, Crafting Tweaks, CraftPresence, Crash Assistant, CreativeCore, Death Chest, Durability Tooltip, Dynamic Stealth, Enchantment Descriptions, EntityCulling, Fantstic Lib, FindMe, FoamFix, Friendly Fire, Fullscreen Windowed, GPUTape, Highlighter, HT's TreeChop, Infinity With Mending, Inventory HUD+, Iron Chest, Item Borders, Jay's Herobrine Mod, JourneyMap, Just Copper Kit, Just Enough Items, Ksyxis, Let Me Despawn, Lootr, Lost Aether Content, Macaw's Paintings, Minecraft Comes Alive Reforged, MixinBooter, Mouse Tweaks, Nature's Compass, NetherPortalFix, Optifine, Packet Fixer, PlayerAPI, RenderPlayerAPI, Rex's Additional Structures, Sauce's Hunger Rework, Simple Copper, Sit, Smart Moving Reforged, Smart Render, SuperMartijn642's Config Library, Tips, Tools+, Traveler's Backpack, UniLib, Useful Slime, Vampirism, VampirismIntegrations, Waila, WaveyCapes, Waystones, YDMs Weaponmaster

im curious if theres a way to go even lower when not using mods. i once estimated possibly trying 512mb, but i got too hooked up on modding to really try it. i estimate that its possible though, considering all these mods easily eat up quite a handful of ram. anyone else bothered doing something else like this? i saw people talking about it here back in 2023(?) in regards to 1.19, but what about 1.12.2 and its supposed dogshit memory allocation? searching it up online didn't provide any worthwhile results.

lol retard

The bigger question is why you're bothering? With mods and that version, you're going to leak to at least an extra gig of ram at that limit from longer play, so you may as well feed it 1.5 and cut out the middleman.

Yeah of course it took less, you weren't triggering (possibly cascading!) worldgen.

i saw a comment somewhere on a minecraft thread (possibly the one that got sponsored? the guy who got hacked?) stating that 1.12.2 has horrible memory allocation. thus i took it upon myself to see what i can do with it, thus here i am with the results curious if others have done something similar.

i noticed this only when i started digging down where bedrock was generating much earlier than was expected. either this is the result of a mod, or what you say here is absolutely correct. can't neglect the fact that there are an absurd amount of villages....................... (although im fairly certain this is an MCA thing where it makes villages much more common to showcase its features more.)

I was tweaking the fuck out over some lighting bugs in a build I was making with Axiom, and eventually realized that MCA Selector also has a tool to reset the lighting of chunks so you can just reload them properly. I also found out it is able to copy/paste chunks, so I moved some islands around and it’s just so convenient for big projects to be able to screw around with the chunks like that.
The new wool blocks will be great, I’m not super hyped for the new wood or the cushions but whatever. From the last update I do quite like the geysers and the sulfur and cinnabar blocks are nice colors as well, but I’m not huge on the CUM CUBE because I don’t make many minigames or crazy contraptions and don’t really have the need for a physics ball.

I think I was thinking of the one before that, which created giant biomes like 256 high. That was pretty cool and killed boredom during lockdowns
gaping asses and cliffs that changed it.
they also changed oregen for some gay reason but made deepslate have the most retarded oregen possible, if you go deepslate spelunking you can get stacked with diamonds and shieet unles you are on mountains where gemeralds spawn.
Sure Mojang, immolate your game's 17-year old art style to appease the builder crowd.
could be worse. they could have appealed to the pvp subhumans or redstoners.

I will be dead in the ground before I use a cushion as a chair, chairs are made from fucking stairs end of story.
For other decorations, probably yeah but never for seats it’s unforgivable to my autism.

Trial chambers and wind charges were for combat players and actually ended up being one of the better additions in recent years. Sculk on the other hand made half of redstone components obsolete by just existing, never mind its awful animation and texture.
They immolated the art style like 7 years ago when they redid the textures and the animal texture update was the final nail in the coffin
True, but it feels like they've finally given up on "limitation breeds creativity" in favor of just adding endless blocks so that people don't make fun of them for being lazy. Even vertical slabs wouldn't be as sacrilegious as endlessly shuffleable and rearrangeable "cushions";

I wish Mojang would make actual wireless redstone. Sculk not only looks awful but sounds awful too. A proper way to make gates that are wider than two blocks would be nice too.

I did more work on the mushroom island and finished the forest town with a dock. I fond the ships on PMC, but really like them so I put them in. I didn't use any assets in on the mushroom island, and each project I do the better I get at using Axiom's functions.

The paths all light up and blink when you walk on them, and the ground is patterned with froglights and shroomlights and moss to really make it look like the mushrooms are spreading everywhere through the mycelium and to make the island look more alien and alive. And the cup mushrooms are based on a real mushroom. The other mushrooms are also houses, I think it's a neat little bizarre village.

Had a lot of fun with the lights and the palate, and I connected it to my other place with a minecart track. But the track goes through a big stretch of ocean so I want to make something on the way from the main land to the islands, I'll figure something out.

Yeah, sort of...I kinda gave up since interest died down a few years ago.

The pack doesn't exist anymore if I remember correctly.

If you want to make a modded kiwi server though, I'd say there are pretty good options compared to even a couple years ago. A lot of old mods on 1.7.10 and 1.12.2 got newer community versions that fix tons of bugs and add new content. There has also been a lot of backports.
ayo nigger is this the pack?

i ask because i checked the link of the post;

if so, we have the technology, we can rebuild it... although a old version i guess?

>15 blocks per second
minecarts found dead in a ditch again
Doesn't even matter. An intersection between the mechanics of copper golems and lodestones created an exploit which players can abuse to teleport infinite distances. 7 months after its discovery Mojang still hasn't patched it despite it trivializing all other transport methods.

If we're just throwing the design doc to the wind, I want a better display block than the item frame too Mojang. No the Tuff Golem doesn't count.
