The US has basically created the technology to do a successful first strike on either Russia or china. the big deterrent in the old days was that some of our warheads would miss. Now they wont miss and we only need to worry about duds, which is countered by firing more weapons. which we can easily do now that NEW START has expired and the US is no longer constrained by law to only 1,550 deployed weapons. the USAF and Navy can quickly up load another 2 or 3,000 warheads on currently deployed missiles by re-mounting their MIRV vehicles.
The ocean is big and sonar isn't a secret. Much like with radar and figuring out that Russia's stealth planes aren't stealthy, chad sonar enjoyers can figure out the shadow of a submarine. Russia uses it's shit for propaganda so everyone knows it's not as good since we've been seeing it, and more importantly hearing it, consistently for decades. IDK about the capabilities of subs build by the Russian Federation, but some of the late soviet submarines were very capable boats, almost the equal of ours. they just couldn't maintain them or build and crew enough of them.

The issue when it comes to anything built by commies is that they can have wonderful, advanced blueprints...but completely fail to actually make those blueprints work. It's why issues are such a big deal for us, it's surprisingly rare enough to become a big blow to the US military's ego. Meanwhile Russia has two black eyes, a broken arm, and is still trying to fight people while DUI-ing a wheelchair, China disappears anyone who can even think of saying anything negative about their military industrial little-man-complex. Iran and North Korea exist-well, Iran used to exist.
The good news in this case is that she won (rather, the state finally wised up and dropped the charges), and she's suing them to hold them to account for this insult.
