Titanic tourist submersible goes missing with search under way

On the bright side, Oceangate did make 2 major scientific and engineering discoveries that will forever change the field of submersibles:
1) They proved that a carbon fiber hull can survive multiple dives. Previous attempts to build something like the Titan were abandoned due to the belief that they could only survive one dive.
2) They proved you could fuck up every step of the construction of a carbon fiber submersible and it would still somehow survive a dozen trips to the Titanic.

I wouldn't trust the testimonies of former engineers and employees due to the fact that they could've been responsible for the problems wile laying all the blame on their boss. Also, everyone bitching about the lack of testing need to accept that it wasn't just Oceangate that is to blame: a lot of the testing would've required help from 3rd parties and universitites and those places told Oceangate to fuck off. So you can't lay all the blame on the CEO who literally went down with the ship.
I think you're missing the entire point or you are ignorant of the information. You should trust the testimony. There is plenty of it BEFORE the submersible imploded. Stockton has been shown to have legally hounded and destroyed legally and professionally anyone outside or within his company who questioned his hull. This has been extensively covered and documented. There was a chorus of people within the company that tried to steer him straight and were professionally destroyed by Stockton. They outright claimed death was imminent if he wasn't stoped. They were dead right. And a chorus of companies said so - before the implosion.

Companies that evaluated the design CLEARLY EXPRESSED that it was NOT to be taken to the depths it was asked to do so and were entirely unambiguous as to their statements that this design was NEVER to be taken to those depths. Period. No exceptions.

The blame lays solely on Stockton and the Directors who allowed him to pursue the destruction of anyone who questioned his approach, and this hull design.

It is true his carbon fiber hull did impressively make repeated depth dives to the Titanic; but these are not discoveries. Anyone could have told you a carbon fiber hull could make it to the Titanic; but Stockton wanted it to be within a weight limit rather than a class that could actually do the job. He reversed engineered the problem "It needs to weigh this" and bullshitted everything about it to justify the thickness, rather than build it to suit. Worse, he also designed a Hull that when it expressed fatigue, could not actually be remedied, nor could it accurately be predicted when failure would happen. This by and large means his design is a life gamble every time and that is just unacceptable. For this reason, carbon fiber hulls like this are not deployed because unlike with metals that you can control the casting, composition and accurately predict failure, carbon fiber by virtue of it's production method can be subject to variations.

To put the water pressure at the Titanic (5,600psi) into perspective, high-performance industrial hydraulic systems used in factories and construction equipment like excavators can run at peak pressures of 4,500psi. At those pressures, one atmosphere (14.7psi) of pressure to allow humans to function without the bends is effectively a vacuum.
On the other hand, every day we let millions of passengers fly on planes with hydraulic systems that have fluid constantly running all over the aircraft at similar pressures in order to power the landing gear, control surfaces etc. It can be made exceedingly safe if you're not a reckless moron about it.

Think about how heavy a gallon of water is. Consider that 1 cubic foot of water is 7.7 gallons. Now imagine having 12,500 feet of water pressing down on you.

Planes are literally the exact opposite of submersibles when it comes to the pressure differential between inside and out (which is exactly why carbon fiber is fine for planes, it's much stronger under tensile stress than compression) and a specialized hydraulic system isn't the same as having the weight of several fucking miles of water weighing down on every square inch of the structure.

If I were a billionaire with retarded amounts of money, I'd create the most petty monument ever by erecting a life-sized statue of Stockton Rush at the Titan launch site (so in the middle of nowhere nevermind, that would be the port of St. John's in Newfoundland), with a plaque that reads something to the effect of: "RIP to the victims of Stockton Rush's mongoloid-tier hubris," and maybe list the names of the dead.
Canada's Titanic memorial is in Halifax, NS, where about 150 of the passengers' recovered bodies were buried. The Maritime Museum of the Atlantic is there as well with the world's largest collection of Titanic artifacts. So Halifax might be the right place for an engraved stone for the dead and a standing exhibit about how arrogance and recklessness continue to kill.

Though I must say St. John's has something of a dour "waiting" about it even on sunny days, Cabot Tower above the mouth of the habor's narrow fjord keeping watch over the North Atlantic's dead.

imagine being so gay for James Cameron’s 1997 motion picture “Titanic” that you build a jeet-tier submarine and get yourself and multiple people killed. He died the same way he lived, which is a retarded faggot

Here's my report: Stockton Rush was sexually attracted to composites which is why he built a pressure vessel out of composite materials despite very few professional manufacturers doing the same and none of them being designed and built for the sort of pressures deep-sea diving requires.
Don't forget that it was also shaped like a Fleshlight, which lends credence to your sexual deviancy theory.

How the fuck did you possess this KF user all the way from the bottom of the ocean, Stockton? I didn't know ghosts had that much power. Get out of him!

lol you dumb motherfucker it's on tape

Looking back, this is the most important video on the whole thing.
Stockton Rush was an absolute know nothing know it all arrogant dumbass that got himself killed. But at least he'd died believing in his own bullshit.
Tony Nissen on the other hand comes across like a shapeshifting deceptive yesman that would be one day be his boss' biggest supporter. To the next lie to the Coast Guard in order to avoid any accountability.

Oceangate causes me to pause before I assume a terribly ran company with its confident incompetence on full display is Indian.

He had this retarded delusional of grandeur about having some sort of "special relationship" with the bears. Like he thought himself as some kind of "father" to them, even giving them individual names like they were his pets or something.

To add to it, Timothy Treadwell was warned by Park Rangers for not practicing basic safety measures like not installing an electric fence around his campsite, improperly storing his food, not having bear spray, etc.
probally important to note that this dude was a junkie for all his youth. i don't think he ever made a good decision his entire lifespan. at least Stockton's hubris is justified to a extent.
but apparently Treadwell's associates didn't want the recording released so the one on the internet is a recreation.
it's in piss poor quality but there is audio of the real recording out there somewhere. they clarified the audio portion of his documentary where someone listened to the video through headphones. it's enough to make out faint screams and sounds of chomping
by the way the fake version is comically bad lol.

If nobody will test your design because it's fucking retarded, the next step is to come up with something that isn't fucking retarded, not ship it.
