Forcibly editing a variable in the game causes that enemy to render as a black deer sprite. It's even referred to as such in the files.

There's a bit more to that enemy. It's actually instantiated (spawned) with its sprite being the black deer, but as soon as it renders on screen it's immediately replaced by the black goat sprite when loaded in.

Why, Kris is written as either a boy or a tomboy, you're supposed to just self-insert as them. Toby only uses they/them pronouns to get troonpoints because he knows his fanbase wants that.
Frisk/Chara was written purely as a player self-insert so it makes sense there too(with Chara being revealed as a girl when you do the Hitler route, kinda like Samus in OG Metroid)

Also they/them can mean a group, as in the group of the little yellownigger you play as, and you - the soul.

There's a game called Fuga : Melodies of Steel that has very undertale-ish character designs and does exactly that. It's pretty shit beyond the humor inherent in the concept of a bunch of kids commandeering a giant murder tank in a world war where they can commit suicide by using themselves as tank ammo (this is played completely straight ingame and does not land that way) and a nazi dog child soldier who bomb-vest suicides you if you don't recruit him hard enough. It's exactly as disappointing as you'd expect.

In the manga, Link actually stops trying to complete the owl's quest to wake the dreamer and tries to leave Koholint with Marin after learning the truth. He tries to sail away but the island is always the same distance away. Stuck within the boundary of the dream. Wouldn't be surprised if Toby read it too.

I think Chapter 5 all but confirms that the weird route is the canon route, or at the very least it’ll merge into the normal route somehow. The drawing Susie gives to Sans is only guaranteed to have three people in the weird route, and Sans’s drawing in Undertale has three people. Beyond that, UT’s genocide route was basically an easter egg while DR gives several hints that the weird route exists and that you should do it.

Actually, the only thing clear is that the Fallen Human began to be named Chara at some point, and then became a girl later somehow. He was always a white boy, possibly straight to boot since these are extra evil compared to the heckin' homo-degenerates.
