A mom in Australia is being investigated for possible cannibalism after her 4-year-old son was found dead with a mutilated arm.

The 32-year-old woman showed up at a police station in the town of Wyong, north of Sydney, on Saturday, leading police to conduct a welfare check at her house, reported the Sydney Morning Herald.

There, the officers found the body of a young boy with significant arm injuries — in a scene so grisly that first responders needed support services, authorities said.

A 32-year-old mother in Australia confessed to cannibalism after her 4-year-old son was found dead with a mutilated arm in their home near Sydney.

Officers are investigating the possibility of cannibalism in the boy’s death after “discussions” with the mom, the SMH reported.

The child may have been dead for days, Nine News reported.

“I’m prepared to say publicly at the moment, it was an extremely confronting scene. It’s been confirmed the child had injuries. I am not going to speculate further on what those injuries are,” Superintendent Chad Gillies of Tuggerah Lakes Police told a press conference Sunday morning.

The mother, who has not been identified, was arrested at the police station and charged with murder and domestic violence on Sunday.

Cops also seized her car along with other evidence.

Superintendent Chad Gillies of Tuggerah Lakes Police said the scene was “extremely confronting.”

Police and emergency services who were at the disturbing scene are receiving support, Gillies said.

“This is a confronting scene for even the most experienced police and ambulance, and that’s why we need to support them,” he said.

The crime has stunned Wyong, a quiet coastal town where neighbors said they had seen no signs of any trouble.

The mom walked into the Wyong Police Station north of Sydney in Australia, prompting cops to go to the home.

“[The boy] was all happy, seen him walking the dog and walking up and down the street. He was very energetic,” said a neighbor who previously worked on the mom’s car.

“[The boy] goes, ‘Oh, you’re working on mom’s car, has she broken it again?’ He was happy. We couldn’t see signs of anything,” added the neighbor, who didn’t want to be named.

The mom and son had moved into the rental home earlier this year after an alleged domestic-violence incident between the woman and an ex-partner, another neighbor said.

The mom was denied bail after failing to appear in court Sunday.

She is due back in court in Wyong on Sept. 1.

Side story because this memory is too weird: Many, many years ago, I lived in an apartment complex. Some of the other renters were little old ladies.

One day, a little old lady asked me if I could come to her apartment to fix her remote or her tv because she couldn’t get it working. Little old lady problems. Very charming, I thought. I’ll help fix the little old lady’s tv.

When I walked into her apartment she had the print of this painting hung on her wall. It was the only thing on her wall and it was massive.

I fixed her remote. But felt a bit… unsettled.?

I mean it is an amazing painting, she clearly had taste. (or she was a cannibal, 50/50 odds)

Stupid journos, I get it's probably because Aus likely has some law in the books about not being able to post faces until proven guilty, but you really had to post it blurry as fuck just so you could say they were white. You know if it had been an Abbo they wouldn't have put anything and defended cannibalism as "beautiful indigenous POC religious rites" or some shit

INB4 she blames a dingo.
this is fucked up, that lady really was telling the truth and jackasses didn't believe her because "ugu dingo is just big pupper"

I mean yes, that's absolutely why they're doing it this way. Otherwise this thread would feature the same autists posting the same rama-rama jokes for the ten thousandth time. Instead we got a charming story about a little old lady with an enthusiasm for Goya's Black Paintings.

She was clearly a witch and wanted to eat you. You got lucky, fella!

Nope and nope. In the state where this happened, NSW, there is an absolutely retarded law that you can’t identify a child who involved in criminal proceedings (as child, perpetrator or witness). In effect that doesn’t just mean a ban on naming the child. If I know Jane Doe has a son called John, and you tell me Jane Doe has been arrested for murdering and eating her son, I can work out that the dead child is John. That’s why there are no names and blurred photos. The ban starts once criminal proceedings start (such as an arrest) and a court can lift the ban.

ETA where no kids are involved, the media might blur a photo of the accused in case an issue of identification might arise in the trial, and the accused argues media coverage poisoned the purity of a witness’ identification. The safest assumption in countries like Australia in their court reporting is that the silence proceeds not from wokeness in the media, but tough sub judice laws which Americans don’t have because of the First Amendment.

So you're saying that they were 100% the most unreconstructed petrol-sniffing witchety-eating abbos and no Homo sapiens blood was spilled?

'Cause that's what we were all wondering.

Oh, the second nope was for the reason for blurring/not naming. Check the blurred photo in the story - she looks pretty white (not that that stops someone 1/16 black from claiming to be an Aborigine…). She was a druggie with mental health problems and a criminal record, and my guess is white underclass. A few more details from the local media (sorry on mobile)

I’m just curious if the blurry photo even has anything to do with the suspect. They state she “has not been identified” (to the media) yet they are posting a blurred photo and talking to her neighbors?

The way the criminal justice system works in the UK, Europe and Oz is really opaque to the public.

One of the biggest audiences for live US trial coverage on YT are people in the UK and Oz, for this reason.

That is just sloppy writing from the journo. She hasn’t been named publicly, but of course the po-po know who she is. Local journalists know who she is - maybe a cop told them off the record, or the neighbours did. With that, the journalists can then find her picture on social media, but can’t name her or show it unblurred, as explained here.

It is absolutely a photo of the accused. There is no way an Australian journalist can just put a random photo into an article like that. If you think our criminal system is opaque, wait till you meet our defamation laws.

It’s just bizarre. Yes we know who she is, locals know who she is and are providing details about her, we are printing vague gory details ….but we can’t actually print or name and must blur the photo. Does the media thank the government for allowing them to write stories with all the pertinent and vital information redacted?

I would have bet for Chinese if the blurred image wasn't so white.

There are some weird ass stuff in the Dingo story, like no one seeing the child prior to the disappearance besides the mother, the Dingo carrying a toddler for miles without clear traces, and how it got into the tent and out while carrying the child.

It's not impossible to be the case, but there was a reason for the skepticism.
