Here's a fun little tidbit: the supreme court ruled it isn't the job of the police to prevent crime or self harm - in any scenario, and that includes suicide. So, no, Andy - they don't legally have to stop you when you go for your quarter mile walks, or when you lie down in the street or the snow. They DO stop you so they can prevent serious disruption to those around you/to keep you from blocking traffic or disturbing the peace, but that's only because it affects others. It isn't to help you or keep you from hurting yourself.
That's because nobody cares if you run away or play in traffic. Not Tom, not Joe, not anybody from APS or the police in Erie, none of your social workers or care workers, nobody in NY or PA or even Cleveland. You have behaved so horribly to every careworkermxñxñ you have ever interacted with that no one wants to help you, ever again.
You're allowed to hurt yourself, Andy, because you have free will. And it isn't anyone else's fault but yours if you do. It works that way for people with actual retardation too, not just fakers.
