I have relatives by marriage whose ancestors came to NY from Ireland pre-famine (I'm sure there's a story there but it hasn't come down in the family) who were almost certainly involved in the Draft Riots. For a fact those ancestors were involved in the kerfuffle about the Quarantine Hospital on Staten Island some years before.

But I've teased them about Great Great Grandpa probably burning down the Negro Orphanage in Manhattan, which happened during the Draft Riots.
