I've recently came across this while reading on early Islam and Byzantium. Seems intentionally glossed over for obvious reasons and they became less of a problem once Islam took over.
His whole theory relies on the fact that Josephus was adapted into the Flavian dynasty, betrayed the zealots/nationalists, and essentially became a Roman propagandist. I could see how he would come up with the theory, as Josephus is pretty much the only source for a lot of Jewish and Christian history at the time and was required reading to be read along with the bible in early Christendom.
