This is the thing they repeatedly claimed in this litigation they don't want to do, and is their primary argument as to why 4chan and Kiwi Farms should not be able to sue them.
Nooo, stalker child, you cannot sue us. But we sure can fine you, different rules, you see.

I just wonder how many of these OFCOM shakedowns we don't see because people just agree that a British government board should have say over what their website can post and take the material down immediately.

They have been sending letters here and there in regards to this case (you can be assured other sites and businesses deal with this shit too). Preston Byrne posts about them on his Twitter. This was a big one though and worthy of some attention
 
Yeah. This works all the time. Twitter complies with monetary and censorship demands, Google complies with both, Facebook, etc. You ever wonder why you're getting cookie notices? That's because EU will threaten any website that doesn't have them as in violation of EU law, and almost all of them will comply. This applies to other industries as well.
