As far as the rest of Illumination's filmography goes I'd say that their "best" film is probably Sing but that comes with a huge asterisk that Sing is only good because it's the most color by number movie ever made and only really reaches the level of basic competence. It is the most adequate film they have made.
I really do love Sing and Sing 2, even if it's Illumination. It's like Pitch Perfect except I don't hate every character and want to kill them all.

I've never seen Sing 2 so I won't give an opinion on it but Sing isn't a bad movie. It's just an exceptionally unremarkable one, aggressively average, even. It never once does anything unconventional or daring but it's also not so polished and well put together that it transcends its generic nature.

I'll also admit that I'm not a huge fan of the majority of the music in it and the pop culture references were already dated when it released and the movie leans very heavily on both. With all that said Sing is probably the best Illumination movie if only because it doesn't have any characters that I want to strangle or parts of the film that I want to just skip through with the chapter select button, as opposed to literally every other Illumination film.

Disneyfag channel complains about the minions
Oh and he doesn't care if the new movie is good (even if it has a George Lucas cameo)
I'm not even a star wars fag let alone that much of a disneyfag and I thought the cameo was funny.

He even hates bee movie

I'll say this much; in this tiring time where all the movies keep trying to do TWISTS! and shocking things that don't make sense, last-minute rewrites, subversive bullshit, all to surprise the audience, it's so refreshing to have a movie that does a concept and plays it straight.

That I will wholeheartedly agree with and it's the main reason why I can actually sit down and watch Sing start to finish.

Death by a thousand cuts for the anti-Bee nigger, we do NOT tolerate those who refuse to BEE themselves! >:(
Bee Movie is shit. SHIIIIITTTTTT!!!!! It's got the same thing that Despicable Me has going on where there are memes of it and so people trick themselves into thinking that it's good.

(also did you just wake up this morning and see my pfp or what.)
Things like the beginning (cat cafes, character behavior) and facial expressions made me think of B&P.

I used Tumblr/CalArts/etc. as descriptors because these studios got their talent pool from incestuous places like them. Part of the reason indies deviate from it is because they remember how prominent it was in the 2010's. They know people don't want to see that shit. I could point to RCDart as a case study, but unless there's a real study it's hard to gauge how many people break away verses stagnating or regressing in that regard.

Fuck it I'll put this up anyway

There's a similar chart for Disney/Pixar but this is worth mentioning

That pilot caught my attention immediately it felt familiar in all the wrong ways, no matter how old it really is. The indie sector is developing similar problems with incestuous relationships, but that's its own discussion entirely.

Second update on the "Judge Holden is forced to watch MLP with his niece" saga. Started season 2 and she is still loving every moment of it.

Admittedly the way she says "wainbow dash" is just adorable enough for me to forget I am witnessing what is effectively 9/11 footage of internet autism.

However for reasons I am utterly at a loss to explain she is convinced the ponies are french.

Rarity. Don't ask me how I know her name.

From what I remember the sensibilities were unintentionally French? It had a very quaint feeling with focus on things like farming, fashion, and the "shabby chic" aesthetic people associate with it. Pastoral French village life and "cottagecore."

Season 2 is actually pretty different from Season 1, though in kind of subtle ways that you may not notice when watching but just kind of feel in your subconscious. The humor is more manic and the show more excitable and there's more humor and jokes that lean towards the older audience the show found itself stuck with after Season 1. Season 1 is very much entirely a show for young girls. In Season 2 they realize "Hey, we have this huge adult audience, let's try and pander to them a little bit".
