Can’t believe I’m thinking about a stranger’s anal fissures with my morning coffee, but aren’t anal fissures often the result of weird poopin (either diarrhea or constipation), and isn’t weird poopin often the result of GLP-1 usage? Most of Megan Trainor’s symptoms seem to be side effects of GLP-1s plus some unsurprising mental distress over being a public figure whose body changed so drastically.

Often, yes, and also yes. Medications for diabetes other than GLP-1s also tend to cause diarrhea (ask any diabetic about going back on metformin) and conditions like IBS are more common in women in general, being obese is strongly associated with both, and IBS and fissures go hand in hand. It could be any number of things, and both fissures and weird poops are common enough (~1 in 10 people will have fissures at some point in their life) that I'm not totally sure why she would feel compelled to share about them.

Oh good, now I get to be terrified of anal fissures on top of prion diseases.

The fuck you mean one in ten? I eat enough fiber to clog a sewage line in a well-appointed midwestern tier 1 research facility. I even got a talking to in Boston (iykyk, they still don't have a self-cleansing velocity grade anywhere in Cambridge fyi) about how the plumbing couldn't handle my taste for insoluble fiber.

You haven't lived til your PI has to schedule a meeting with you and the facilities' manager to tell you to eat less.

Thread tax: my grant just got axed so I am allowed to PL. NIH fuckwads.

I cant feel pity for these women despite having the same issue bc girl, a partial hysterectomy is an outpatient surgery and the recovery hurts less than your period. Its really an easy procedure woth life changing benefits and you dont go through menopause because it spares the ovaries, or have muscle damage because its done with a laser. If you don't need it, yeet it.

The positive(?) side of it is they're usually pretty harmless and tend to resolve entirely on their own! Some people even mistake them for hemorrhoids because the symptoms are similar. Stick with the fiber, probiotics, and plenty of hydration, and try not to sit on the toilet for too long if you can if you can help it. Sorry for the off-topic poop talk!

One way to tell that munchies are full of bullshit is researching if their multiple syndromes are related. Like for instance, hEDS, POTS, MCAS, are very different syndromes, and don’t have a possible link to each other. Another way to tell is when a person has all of these syndromes out of nowhere. Nobody gets diagnosed with a bunch of syndromes at the same time, particularly syndromes that don’t have a known link to each other.

Legit if I start prion sperging I might never stop. Those things are fucking terrifying.
Ok you can start in my opinion.

Agreed for women like 45+ years of age but munchies are 20 something usually so hard disagree women are judged by their fertility unfortunately
